  1. The British Army did intend to use the Farquar-Hill as a squad level support weapon, like the BAR. Not as a individual rifle. After the War the Farquar-Hill was developed as a light machine gun. But it proved to be fragile and unreliable.

  2. The Farquar-Hill would not have been ordered for use by aircraft observers (rather than pilots). By 1917 the idea of using a self loading rifle was completely obsolete. Except in America.
