This has got to be the result of the pressure to perform on TV. Or at least that's what I'm going with, as the alternative is just too depressing.
49
Israel, you mean those bunch of war criminals that seem to feel that they're entitled to do whatever they want without consequence? I've got no particular issue with Jews except for their support for that corrupt state. Perhaps if they'd stop murdering innocent civilians and tearing down their homes there wouldn't be so much terrorism targeting them.
38
Yep, somehow the diversity of the people doing the oppression makes it better.
36
But, orange man bad. I'm Joe Biden and I forgot this message.
34
Yep, as somebody with an advanced degree, I can confirm that degrees are more about funding and commitment to completion than anything else.
31
@user-ut8yp6lx5b There's no dual loyalties here. He's only loyal to the donors.
29
And even after they've bought the pig, they still don't want to hear that he's completely insufficient. They're going to use reconcilation to get $1400 rather than the $2k that they promised. So, they'll get attacked for using budget reconiliation anyways and they won't at least make it $2k or a recurring $2k and I don't believe there's anything for essential workers in there either. But, the unemployed will again be making more than those working essential jobs in many cases.
27
They're betting the the court is politicized enough that posting videos like that won't come back to bite them. Sadly, I'm not confident that there will be any real consequences after all these years of them doing this sort of stuff.
24
I regret having volunteered for his campaign. We deserved far better. He should have left the party add run 3rd party. He definitely should have refused to campaign for Biden,
23
The criminal bit is recent, but people have known he's a horrible person for decades. He only gives his money away because his dad guilted him into it.
23
That's not terribly surprising. Despite the tactics, it's worth recognizing that most of the people involved in these military operations view themselves as freedom fighters and I can't imagine them maintaining any sort of morale if it came down to keeping children captive and tormenting them. There is a hstory of hospitality throughout the Middle East and it wouldn't surprise me if it was being extended to children that were caught up in all of this. It's also a really smart move for cynical reasons. That girl will grow up and someday get to vote and influence those around her.
20
I'm deeply disappointed with my representative Jayapal. I'm not voting for her ever again and will not just be voting for the other candidate regardless of whom it is, but I'll be donating to her opponent. This is completely unacceptable. I voted for her because I didn't want this bullshit and now I find out that she's giving up even before there's a fight. Very disappointing.
18
Yep, saying it's a mistake implies that it wasn't completely intentional. She did it on purpose knowing full well what it would do to the people.
17
If the cops were exhibiting any sense of urgency here, I'd give the cop getting hand sanitizer the benefit of the doubt that he expected to be dealing with wounded people and not necessarily have a chance to put on gloves. Which is honestly, a very, very large stretch, but it would be plausible. But, since they waited more than an hour, there's no particular defense there.
16
That's a large part of why he won, he at least had popular support in his party. Neither Biden nor Clinton can say the same thing.
16
Good call, hurt feelings are more important than people self-murdering because they've been bankrupted by medical bills.
16
The especially sad thing is that he understood that his movement wouldn't come with him if he didn't say and did what he wanted. He's being purposely obtuse abouy it.
13
It's pointless building walls when you have a border that is nearly 2 000 miles long. Not only is it expensive to build, but maintenance and monitoring for breaches is expensive as well. Then you get the cartels using things like catapults to launch things over the fence and people building ladders or digging under it. In this case, you've got a much shorter stretch to secure and the political will to do it.
13
If we had a Democracy she would have been voted out of office ages ago.
12
To be fair, he's not yet in office and the GOP is already trying to impeach him. Not that it makes it OK, but this whole situation is far beyond what you'd see in a farce.
12
Well, that would make it hard to sniff women's hair.
11
Last election, I wrote in Bernie, I probably should have voted Stein.
10
It's sad that Trump was the less serious threat to democracy. Say what you will about Trump, but at least some people supported him.
10
And yet we keep letting Fauci talk. He's repeatedly lied about various things. And that's a fact, he keeps having to admit to the lies.
9
You can thank feminism for women like that. Obviously, nobody has ever held her accountable for her views and the crazy stuff she's saying. Somebody should have told her that the haircut was a dumb idea and that people can have different opinions.
9
That wasn't Obama?
8
Because the vast majority of those with student loans aren't the elite. Most of those jobs don't necessarily pay that well, especially with the burden of the remaining student loans.
8
@craigewen7542 Look at what the Israeli forces did in response and do every time there is any effort to fight back against their oppression. Israel isn't exactly innocent in all of this.
8
This is why I'm no longer a Democrat. I won't be giving them a single cent until they start representing the voters.
8
It can't be taken over, it must be discarded completely. It's not that long ago that the DNC more or less had the GOP on the ropes, but managed to incompetently fumble that away, so we got more of this bullshit rather than a choice. If this keeps up much longer, there's going to be armed resistance popping up as it's pretty clear that voting does nothing.
8
That doesn't seem fair. How is Biden supposed to compete with facts?
8
The thing is that she's speaker because she's one of the best at fund raising. It's not because she's a good politician or has anything of value, it's because she's capable of raising large amounts of money.
7
Yes, although the question then becomes, now what? The GOP is definitely not better, and third parties remain a non-competitor to the big two parties. I personally refuse to vote for either GOP or Democratic candidates except in the case where there's no 3rd party option and in that case against the incumbent. The complete lack of any sort of hazard pay for essential workers just made my blood boil, on top of the lack of real student loan relief or any meaningful effort to get it after winning those elections.
7
They won't, but accomplice is the right word here. Had they gone in immediately, there still would have been deaths, but there's a pretty good chance that the number would be lower than it ultimately was. This is what you get when the police are shielded from all but the most incompetent of mistakes.
7
It's interesting how it's just the single men that don't get help until the last bit. But, it's women that are "oppressed."
7
@Chuck_Hooks Just as long as it doesn't help any Americans or give us the idea that politicians can be pressured to do the right thing for typical people in the country.
7
Possibly, but I doubt it. Given how horribly the IDF has bombed the crap out of the area, I do think that there's reason to have some sincere gratitude for protecting the hostages from Israeli aggression long enough to be released. IN the long run, the truth will get out regardless of what that truth is. But, it wouldn't surprise me if the letter is more truth than fiction.
7
Apparently, that's the plan.
7
Probably, that type of racism is apparently still OK.
7
Yep. That being said, I won't personally vote for another Democrat or Republican for any office except if there's no 3rd party candidate and only to oust the incumbent. I've tried doing less in the past and it was completely useless. If enough people do the same, then at least it helps create a bit of a bias towards a 3rd party candidate and lowers the barrier to entry.
7
@oliviav.3565 He doesn't agree with you, so he doesn't have objectivity? Considering the degree to which the Israelis made it hard to keep the hostages safe due to the excessive bombings, I do think that it probably isn't inappropriate for the hostages to have some appreciation for Hamas not letting the Israelis murder them during one of their war crimes. Whether that adds up to an actual expressed thank you or not is really on the person that's making the decision to show appreciation or not.
6
I had 3 other third parties available. For me personally, I found Howie more compelling than the other options.
6
At this point, I'm not sure it's hypocrisy.
6
I'm "privileged" to live in a state where my vote doesn't count. It was kind of a tough call as basically all the tertiary candidates were worth consideration. Ultimately, I wound up voting Green because they seemed slightly better and had some hope of getting enough support for recognition.
6
@nitrofreakmanho Yes and often times doing it with US taxpayer dollars. It's bad enough that they're doing these things, it's worse that my taxpayer dollars are going to help.
6
@ebrown0071 What's scary is that he's going to move to the right as soon as he's formally declared to be the nominee, then further right if elected.
5
The main problem with the Green Party is that they basically do nothing other than run for President. You don't see them on the ballots during off years or for other offices. The best way to earn votes for the Presidential race is by helping people locally. If people start seeing these Green Party members helping them personally, they'll be much more likely to view the national candidate favorably.
5
Unfortunately for Clinton and Warren, women are too smart to fall for this. Why don't they just run on actual issues?
5
I'm definitely not voting for him. Unfortunately, enough people will that the DNC won't learn a damned thing.
5
It's been known for decades, there's a reason why people have been known to refer to recruiters as "body snatchers." Despite what you see in films, there's little to no honor in the military, especially when you start talking about the higher level officials that order all the war crimes.
