  2. Well, actually, I think I concede and I actually agree with you. All I was getting at is just that, that protectionism is a stop-gap measure, and that pure capitalism works...but that is just one facet of an entire system of governance that, even in it's pure form, can easily become corrupted (see: usury), and that without some minor regulation on the governing body, including in it's economic policies, it would run amok and liberty would be strained.

Rome empiricism got the best of them, and they became lackadaisical, and sat too fat and happy on their capital, which in turn destroyed it when they tried to feign the audience with bullshit so that they would (presumably) be held back from pertaining their blood-lust towards the empire. "Capitalism is a no government interference in trade, or a free market. You can have 80% taxes and a free market, as long as the taxes arent benefiting either party in the trade" That would be lovely. Too bad people want to keep fighting for more wealth, instead of making it themselves...don't really see that changing anytime soon.
