@narcosniper78 Solzhenitsyn was born after the revolution. So he can not give a first hand account of the early days. He was a mere teenager at the time of Stalin's 1936 to 1938 Moscow trials. He became a major in the Red Army during the war and got into trouble for questioning orders to halt just twenty miles away from Warsaw despite the uprise of the Jews in Ghetto. Opposition to Stalin began with Lenin who wanted him removed from his post as General Secretary saying he was too rude had too much power and he wasn't sure he would always use it wisely. Little did Lenin know that Stalin was already operating a secret Troka in the political committee. Lenin died in 1924 when Solzhenitsyn was just 6 years old. Ayn Rand who has always claimed to be an opponent of Bolshevism received an University education and advanced study at state expense and was never subjected to political repression in Lenin's time leaving for the US shortly after his death despite the US having no diplomatic relations at that time.
