They're not jails. They're gulags.

When Europeans escaped Ottoman or Barbary bonds, most sought only to return to their homelands... I don't think any of them stayed there demanding recompense.

Lol at the wiki disclaimer... shameless.

The side that claims to be the ones that would oppose the National Socialists if they arose today, the same ones that hid the atrocities of Stalin and Castro, are the same ones who are making excuses for the CCP and claiming that criticism and mockery of the CCP is super wasicsss. If you can't see through them at this point I'm not sure you can accurately be deemed sentient.

My favorite feminist of all time is Annie Oakley. She actually went around teaching frontier women how to shoot. Who needs girl power when you have girl fire power...

Rowling didn't understand economics... at all. She also didn't understand sports... as is evidenced by her Broom sport. She does seem to have a grasp on the Arthurian Legends though. Harry's origin story (dead parents and raised by abusive aunt and uncle and spoiled cousin) is one of Arthur's origin stories in Mallory's translation of the Winchester manuscript.

'Dangerous!' cried Gandalf. 'And so am I, very dangerous: more dangerous than anything you will ever meet, unless you are brought alive before the seat of the Dark Lord. And Aragorn is dangerous, and Legolas is dangerous. You are beset with dangers, Gimli son of Glóin; for you are dangerous yourself, in your own fashion."

I think you mean Hobbits hunting Oliphaunts...
65
Scouring of the Shire... "they want to take the land and give it to the Big People"
62
Not in decades. In our entire history. We have fallen so far because of these people.

There was that one book that got turned into a show with Franco. He went back in time and stopped the shot, then when he went back, the country was in shambles. Im wondering if that was a psyop now... these powerful people trying to justify their actions.
24
After Rings of Bezos, I just assume everything they make is awful. I can't even bring myself to give it a chance.
18
The audio is perfect. He just sounds like that...
17
Not being a collectivist is 'selfish'... what? I would say trading another's freedom for your own security is the single most selfish act one could perform...
16
@johntheconquerer8684 it's funny because, if I'm not mistaken, sharpshooting and speed shooting are two of the only sports where women have actually competed successfully at the highest levels. I'd have to look it up to be sure though.
16
@Crusty_Comrad no. This is worse. Our country wasn't riddled with stalinists during the great depression.
16
How people can't see this as the same as the medieval eunuchs is baffling to me...
16
Truely a model African. Wish they are like him.
15
It's kind of weird and probably not related... but there are a whole lot of Indian workers in silicone Valley that have been brought in on visas as well as Indian people at the highest levels of some of the tech companies.
13
Is this the same John from the Robin of Loxley stories?
13
This might be the single most disturbing story I've ever heard... Also... I think these 'older men' that encourage this online should be henceforth known as an "Uncle Screwtape".
12
@Niyucuatro I remember Peterson talking about that. I found it interesting. It's definitely more of a metaphor that a sport.
12
@marcz2903 that's definitely her strength. I read Harry Potter as a kid and then got into Arthurian Legends later (I'm in the States and they don't delve into that much) and I found it wild how little the Arthurian connection are mentioned by her fans. I mean, Harry has an invisibility cloak that is almost Arthur's mantle to a tee. As to the roman connections, McGonagall first name in Minerva which is the roman version of Athena. And Albus is a roman word that means something like 'bright white' or something if I remember right. And Sirius is the name of the brightest star, which is in the Canis Major constellation (or great dog).

Yeah. Cults can't tolerate apostates or heretics. It's one of the biggest markers of a cult.
11
That was one of the things I liked about the Shadow games. They depicted his body as the black part of the eye surrounded by fire to make Jackson's eye. I thought it was a cool visual. But then again, we also got sexy shelob...
10
Too much carbon... they would get raided by the Green Shirts.

Said like only Sargon could say.
8
The giants too... if you ever meet someone over 6'6" that was born with an extra finger or two, you're dealing with a Jotan hybrid.
7
@TheAmericanPrometheus that kind of spits in the face Aule and his dwarves, which I believe were the only people not made by illuvitar, although illuvitar still had to breathe life into them.
7
"If you're not a commie, you're a fascist" reminds me of "if you're not first, you're last". One day they will admit that they "were high when they said that... you could be second, third... hell, you could even be second to last."
6
@Thomw72 yeah, the out-of-africa theory has certainly taken some hits recently. I get where you're coming from.
6
I never realized how many Lovecraftian elements were in Conan until recently.
5
The only walking simulator I want to play is Death Stranding 2. I did think AW2 was gunna be woke though, and it doesnt seem to be... even the half black viking chick isnt too lame. And I havent encountered any hegelian nonsense.
5
That meme is backwards... his vision gets more clear when he removes his glasses. This was post spider bite.
5
@slim-yin 'couple of people' ... 'highlander'... does not compute.. there can only be one.
5
I dont think Locke leads to woke. I think the woke abandoned locke while keeping his name for appearances. Locke believed in localism, meritocracy, and minarchy... things the woke viciously oppose. C.S. Lewis actually talks about how the less intelligent always attempt to turn 'Equality before the Law' into 'Equality of all things'. I believe it was in Screwtape Proposes a Toast. But I'll give it a listen and see the arguments.
5
I heard 76 was a different game now. I tried it when it dropped and didn't like it. Not to mention the bugs and crashes. I was thinking about giving it another go.
4
Too soon...
4
@asd3601 I understand that, I was just contemptlating the cultural effects that might have on both nations.
4
You thinking God or Aliens?
4
@maldarchives7995 don't be hasty
3
Mine was Ahmed the Clock Boy...
3
@thurin84 that was so callous it made my head hurt...
3
@suzukisixk7 what? Did you even read what I wrote?
3
@suzukisixk7 so I should be able to trade your freedom if I think it makes me personally safer? Ok... sounds good. Let's start with your freedom to speak to me...
3
@alexanerose4820 no, it works until the welfare based, nanny state gets implemented. The good think is that you don't have to give collectivists individual consideration, so letting them fail will be guilt free.
3
What came first? The prostitute or the pimp?
3
There are many types of stereos.
3
Leaf by Niggle is probably my favorite Tokien short. I think it makes the 'Gift of Mandos' from LOTR make more sense. I highly recommend it.
3
I have no interest in the Millenia old blood feuds of desert theocrats... not when my own country is being gutted in every way imaginable.
