There are even brothers and sisters that can look like they are not in the same family. There is no typical American look, as people in the USA is a mix of people from many different countries. And keep in mind he is 95 years old, not at the size when he was 50. His Norwegian family is from south-west of Norway, the chance for any close relation to people from swedish/Finland border is quite small, I'm sorry this is possible a wrong track for you to continue investigating when to comes to relatives. But his story is interesting, the movie is called 'John, the last Norwegian cowboy', it might be avaiable on dvd/download sometime, I am not sure

  15. His father came over from Norway, his mother born in the US of German parents. They spoke english at home, he speak neither norwegian or german, apart knowing some few words I guess. He visited Norway and German last time when in his 70's. He got many accordians, some of which was brought from Norway and can play a lot of old Norwegian tunes by heart, learned from his father, but he did not know the names of the songs. There was a 1.5 hour movie about him on Norwegian cinemas in 2021, 'John, the last norwegian cowboy' made by a norwegian producer who visited him over 2-3 years at different times of the year. He is quite well used to cameras and people stopping by)

  37. It's actually not that 'remote' in AK. It got both a highway (1 h to Anchorage), railway and harbour. There are many AK towns without road, rail, and ship connection., only to be reached by air

  38.  @Landonmoto39  Lol...obviously you've never been outside the city limits of Anchorage, if you are in AK or have visited. 20 minutes drive to the Seward Highway, then cruise 45 minutes into Anchorage. Yeah, I bet they feel extremly remote to the world in AK measures, and dream about living in a much more central place where it's just 4 days of dog sleding to town
