I'm pretty sure that, unless they become heads in bottles, like Futurama Nixon, they will be wasting resources on their own self-endings, if what you say is true. How are they so sure that their self-awareness and "spirit" would survive such a transfer? If they are that terrified of personal death, then I say that swinging them from lamp posts will pack extra entertainment value. Invest in hemp!
