I've had thyroid troubles for years, losing and gaining weight over and over. It disfigured my eyes permanently, too. If Styx is going to pick on someone for looking different after a disease, he can kiss my ass. I've gotten bored of his spiel since the livestreams began, anyhow.

@frankenz66 i just read a medical journal article from 1897, a few years after they figured out how to reverse hypothyroidism with powdered sheep thyroid glands. The article mentioned that `cretinism" was super common in eastern France, but fairly sporadic and uncommon in the U.S. at the time. They had only just learned how to differentiate hypothyroidism from Bright's disease (renal failure).

@frankenz66 I live in the Great Lakes, and despite iodized salt, I give my patients a whole lot of levothyroxine pills. My own thyroid problem is autoimmune, though. I have to avoid iodine to help it stay in natural remission.

@jeremyjones7436 What the heck? Styx is a haughty little snot about a lot of things, but he usually doesn't remark on looks, which is nice, because that's just cheap. Sort of like calling someone a hypocrite is cheap, low-hanging fruit.
