  20. In 1973, I was 12 when the opec oil embargo hit the U.S. It was a shock! But not a big enough shock for us in America to take the matter seriously. If 51 years ago we would have committed to tiny gas and diesel transportation and develop renewable and nuclear energy… We wouldn’t be suffering from climate change, we’d have long ago been energy independent and instead of $3.75….Gas would be 50c a gallon!

My Yaris 1NZ-FE currently: - 297,000 miles (500,000 km) - Ave mileage 40 MPG (5.9 l/100km) - Burns no oil - original everything, even the clutch My engine life to currently is about 7,500 hours if I assume an Ave speed of 40 mph (65km/h). Q. My current hours is much higher than what you projected for an Ave gas engine. I fully expect to get 500,000 miles. Is my Toyota just that good, or other?

I predict freevalve will be adopted as costs fall (unless electric takes over) Also…to compare the power production of a naturally aspirated freevalve vs a cammed turbo engine is obviously not viable. There are many other elements of improvement not discussed here, such as lessened emissions equipment, no need for costly direct injection.
