As I have already mentioned Sailors do get Familiarised with a Standard Issue Long Arm and a Standard issue Sidearm , including a bit of Range time so they know how the Weapon feels in use . And most Warship Armouries carry enough Weapons to arm about Half to Two Thirds of the Ships company . This is a contingency for the EXACT scenario you described . Further , the Gunnery Sailors are ALL Expert Marksmen as PART of their Job Description . And if you have a couple of Divers onboard , THEY tend to be Trained Killers . Specialist Demolitions and Mine Clearing Operatives . NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY ONE OF THESE PEOPLE " Infantry " . EW is mainly to Confuse Enemy tracking systems and thereby " Misdirect " incoming Smart Ordnance or Used as an Offshore Assist for PROFESSIONAL Infantry and Armour and Air Assets onshore And Drone Op's are basically the same concept , though generally Naval Drones deal with Naval Issues . Navel EW is not a Poxy little " Hand-Held Gadget " , it is Half of a COUNTRY Crippling Powerful . And not in the Least " Portable " . So your Arguments a re Spurious .
