Remember that Turkey and Greece were added to NATO basically together in 1952 so clearly things were going well at that time . If , over time , two of the " Parties " develop a rift that's simply WHAT HAPPENED . It's between them . NATO will surely be CURRENTLY putting some Diplomatic pressure to settle the Matter . But at this point in time that's all that can be done . If Turkey WERE to withdraw from NATO , then sobeit . They would , of course , lose the " Umbrella " that NATO provides . However , NATO and BRICS membership are definitely NOT mutually excluding . One a Strategic Alliance , and the Other, an " Economic Community " . Only related in the vaguest of terms , those two . Erdogan is the Problem , of course .
