1:11:19 I have to disagree. During WWI France, in a partially invaded country, manufactured more than five times more Chauchat than UK manufactured Lewis Gun (262.000 vs 50.000). Maybe in a 1 vs 1 the Lewis Gun was a better LMG (even if it had its issues. It was more an ambush weapon, apt to be fired from an at least partially protected position, than real portable automatic fire), but 1 vs 5, no way.

@wingracer1614 99% of rifle exchanges in WWI had been done at less than 100 yards, so 1 Lewis and 4 SMLEs vs 5 Chauchats is a no-brainer. Chauchat for the win. However a more realistic comparison should be a 100 men company with two Lewis guns and 98 rifles vs a 100 men company with 10 Chauchat and 90 rifles.
