  5. The truth of science transcends partisan politics. The chemical precursors in isolation are only "half" of a binary chemical agent. The weapon is only a weapon and deadly when combined with its other components, not stored at the same site. In case they were, the energy and fire from 76 , 1,000 lb warheads would be sufficient to incinerate those chemicals , hence no "poisoned air".

Of course they knew, a ballistic missiles trajectory is a simple calculation once you have baseline data early on, its a little more difficult with an IRBM because its initial trajectory is similar to an ICBMs. The main issue is the problem of missile break up, if that happens then you get debris showered onto your territory. Hence the public address systems were activated.

Some may have the sub strategic hard target (silo) kill role and max range with one warhead  a decoy payload I would assume, we would still be part of what ever today`s equivalent of SACEUR is, ie , part of a US led attack plan, the French too.
