  3. Spent a year and a half in La Paz, it really lives up to its name. The people are friendly, the produce is fresh, and the oceans are perfect for a hot day with a beer. Moving back and looking for property soon.

  12. Hi Guys! My family came from Bahia, and I visited the state from time to time. But in next month is the first time that I will visit Salvador. Was very nice see you look about our culture. A foreign vision, but also a african american vision, about the cradle of our african-brazilian culture. I wish a good trip to you guys, and I will buy a coffee to you soon ;-)

You forgot to say that in Brazil we have universal healthcare Wich means our taxes are used to provide free healthcare for everyone (you can also have health insurance if you prefer, cuz' the health system is overloaded. But even in this situation is way better than pay thousands of dollars for simple or more complex health treatments)

  16. Your intro montages are so well written; great voiceover as always. I've had my eye on Manta for 2 years, and those high rise rental prices have almost doubled. I think this might be the next Portugal for the mass exodus of folks leaving the U.S.; thus the construction. Question: Do you find that they speak Spanish faster in Ecuador than in MX? Would I need to learn a different kind of Spanish for EC vs. MX? You guys were keeping up that conversation pretty good! That plate of food+drink for ONE DOLLAR‼Would you get it again? I went to the Grand Canyon, West rim, where the Skywalk is. They had the little cafeteria for tourists, teepees/faux reservation in back, and right next to it....a Chinese restaurant. 🤣

I hopefully can join the ranks of being an expat in Mexico soon-I had OpenDoor come by my house today to appraise it and give me a final buyout offer, which I should have in a day or two. If the figures are good, I'll let them buy the house. Then sell the car or give it back to the bank if I'm upside down on it hahahaaa! I left my toxic job already last month so I'm good there. Then straight the airport for the 2 hour flight to CDMX (I live in Texas). Y'all, I'm RET. TA. GO! Send some positive and smooth-sailing vibes my way, PLEASE!

  18. Pretty much nailed it guys! "Provecho" or "Buen provecho" is not only a way to say enjoy your meal, but also a polite way to say "sorry for interrupting your meal" even if the interruption is minimal and unintended, like walking past someone's table at a restaurant. I think a good way to learn Spanish is to watch Netflix in Spanish with subtitles also in Spanish and trying to read along.

  21. The person performing at minute 4 not only is a famous Mestre of Capoeira known as Mestre Tonho Materia but as you guys saw, he is also a singer and a performer. He's been also in the opening at the FIFA World Cup in Germany. His capoeira group name is Associação Cultural de Capoeira Mangangá. If you can land a personal interview with him, it would be amazing as he is a walking encyclopedia of afro-brazilian (and beyond) culture. I know him personally and have his number if you are interested.

  22. I suggest that for the next videos to focus on several Afro-Brazilians that are (were) important for our development. The list is huge but I recommend to check the works of geographer Milton Santos (1926-2001) who won the equivalent to Nobel Prize for georgraphy. A great professor and a sweet person. Sds.

  25. I grew up in and around Logan Heights and Lincoln Heights San Diego, I'm mixed having grown up with my Mexican side of the family. Lots of Narcos where I grew up, my cousins grandma was a boss, everyone talked about it. My tias dated and married narcos, I have many extended family members (I'm no contact) that are narcos themselves. They have a huge reach. I moved away to what is supposed to be basically pleasantville, Temecula, but I have certainly noticed them here too. I can sniff 'em out because I grew up around them. You gotta watch out for hot spots in the US too. The world is a mixed bag

  45. I travel a lot to the United States but I realize that there is a lack of warmth and friendliness with tourists. USA has wonderful cities but lately the North American is very sad and angry with foreigners. We Brazilians love all peoples.

  47. ​ @TheYarbros  that is so true, the micro aggressions are horrible, this happens in the whole country but in the south is even worse. If i could explain to you the politics of Brazil in a way for you to undertand, it is like the northeast of Brazil votes for the democrats and the south votes for the republicans. And the south has more groups of na zi. The more you go north, the less you will experience racism and aggressions, but still exists in all states, even in the state of Bahia which has the biggest % of black people. That is really sad but we are changing it slowlly. We are lucky that racism is a crime in Brazil and homophobia became a crime which is inside the law against racism, its been 4 years now. What we need to do now is to educate the population, and we are doing it. The last 6 years was dificult because of the rise of fascism, people getting dived, polarization, even in their own familly. But we will make people get together and teach them to love. I have faith that we can do it. Thank you for honest opinion and pov.

  48. I felt an instant connection, almost cried as soon as I left the airport. Walking, breathing, dancing, speaking, eating in Salvador is an experience. I felt at home and ended up staying for 6 years. Going back in August. Me apaixonei e quero voltar para sempre.

  50. Went to Los Cabos, Mexico a little over a yr ago and loved it. My husband didn't want to go at first due to the propaganda spread about Mexico he fell in love with it. As a black couple we felt more at home there than we do in the states. He was even inquiring about housing cost there.
