  2. It wasn't until moving to California that I realized what liberalism is. It's a claim to help people, but in reality, everyone cares about their social status. For example, even though we know that the materials for electric batteries come from children in the Congo, we still happily promote evs because we need to get to the greater good. Or, Rittenhouse and jussie lies were justified to get to the greater good of showing the other side as evil. That one was a real eye-opener for me. People saying yeah, it's a lie, but who cares. It helps our cause. It's scary to see, it's a cult.

You Clear believe in the Axial Age Theory of Karl Jasper where new Philosophic and Religions ideas came to Prominence and replace all that came before and you have been saying that another Axial Age is inbound within the Next Century. [ a Topic you've said a Video talking about such a shift is currently being made by you] And while I myself don't really agree with this theory [the Hellenic Gods Becoming Dominate over Zoroastrianism, the Hellenic Buddhist Faith in Hellenic Pakistan and the Rather Brutal Conversion of the Roman Empire to Christianity are all note worthy holes I can think of in the Theory] I do find this Darwinian view of Religious History to be Incredibly interesting and is a view I can't recall anyone talking about before I discovered your channel. Like all self aware gen x, millennial, Zoomers my fundamental view is social expectations are a pointless oppressive trap of life. But hot damn dude... But it's not - It's a map leading you out of anxiety. Being forced to be unique and expres continously who you are and be aware of what you want at any given second is a worse burden to bear than the peace of mind of leaning into clichés and social expectations.   15. Rudyard, I remember reading a piece about Stanley Payne's scholarship of interwar Europe where the author wrote about a revolutionary-counterrevolutionary cycle. IIRC, a country has an established order, which eventually grows stale. Once that order has grown stale, a revolutionary movement will emerge, followed by a counterrevolutionary movement. People should not confuse the counterrevolutionary movement with a defense of the established order. I believe that Payne's observation was that once the revolutionary-counterrevolutionary cycle begins, the established order is as good as finished. I would love to see your take on this (and forgive me if you've covered it previously).

As a 25 year old straight white guy I share a remarkable amount of things in common, but thankfully not everything: -Divorced parents (though my father is still in my life. -Raised atheist -Live in a major liberal city where I have to mask my true thoughts (especially with my feminist mother) -Was inundated with left wing politics -Useless degree -Low paying job -Didnt lose my virginity till 21 -Currently no gf I could go on.... To all the fellow Toms out there I wish I could snap my fingers and fix your lives, to make you happy, but I can't. The little I can do is tell you this: Be the change you want to see: Do the scary/hard thing. Ask the girl out Be the one who reached out and connects with friends instead of you waiting for them to reach out to you. Move away from your shitty city like I'm planning to do. Go to the gym Drink more water Touch some fucking grass! Be the change you want to see! Be the man I and you know you can be. We are in hard times and times are only going to get harder but with love, compassion, discipline and a fucking spine I know that we can make it through this!

  20.  @WhatifAltHist  I do actually agree that free trade weakened the US's geopolitical position, but mainly that was because we trusted China too much and allowed it too many concessions. A compromise that would allow us to reap the benefits of free trade without that compromise, would be more or less what Trump is trying to do now (possibly too late): set up a preferential trading system like imperial Britain had, where we trade with our allies rather than everyone.

  22. THANK YOU Rudyard for helping me understand and sympathize with my 27 year old son who's living at home with us. As a genXer, I've been looking at him through my own lens -"I would never have lived at home after college ." But the world and the economy is very different now. You've helped me see more clearly what he's up against. It's not just a matter of buckle down, launch and work harder. I've been thinking that living at home was holding him back from the real world, but he's in fact doing a lot of great things as a young artist and has a serious girlfriend. He just happens to have picked a career path that takes years to master and is not a lucrative, salaried life. As you did, he's going his own way and has chosen not to go to grad school for an MFA in order to get a job in "the system". Thank the Lord. I hope you and my son both get married and have many children! God bless you.

  26. Regarding the portion on Jesus and the Pharisees, the reality is that most of the Pharisees were historically much more similar ideologically to Jesus than the Pharisees he criticizes. The Pharisees were divided into two factions: Beit Hillel and Beit Shammai, founded by two sages named Hillel and Shammai respectively. Shammai was more of a letter-of-the-law type whereas Hillel was basically the philosopher behind most of Jesus’s ideas regarding kindness and the spirit of the Torah as opposed to strict legalism. Of these two factions, Beit Hillel was typically the dominant one.

  31. Its only because modern "Science" is stock-driven and Corporatized. They tell you that lockdowns will keep you safe, only because Landlords and big supermarkets can make money. They tell you masks are healthy, only because the mask companies can make money. They tell you that vaccines (specifically the Covid vaccine) are good for you, only so the pharmaceutical companies can make money. They tell you that driving electric cars is good for the planet, only so manufacturers can make money. The Science I grew up with told me to question everything and always have a reasonable backup explanation for why a theory we have works or doesn't work. But the "Science" now demands that you blindly trust it and never question it, and if you do then you're suddenly an anti-Vaxxer or Flat Earther or a Truth Denier. The "Science" we have now is Leftist Science, and that's why I abhor it's existence. I'm sticking with the Conservative Science that suited people fine for centuries, the one that actually makes sense and that I can trust.

  45. Our Western societies are miserable because our age structure is out of whack, and that translates into different age groups are miserable for distinct reasons. The elderly live too long past retirement and suffer ill-health, loneliness, and depression as they have lost a strong reason to live. Because of their democratic weight, governments focus on the needs of the elderly. The future and prosperity of the young is reduced in order to fund the elderly's retirement through high house prices, higher income taxes and slower promotions as the elderly hang on to the most senior jobs. There is a lot more to this, but that's the simple version
