  2. I was with the 5th MEB in Desert Storm and I can attest to the “had to kill my mother” myth. We would have captured Iraqi troops who could not be interrogated in the field because they were so terrified at our sight and recounted the myth but added that we had to drink Moms blood to the story. During your time in the Corps you have to put up with an every flippin minute of horsesh!# but that’s not the Corps. The Corps is the absolute hilarious awesome time you had with other Marines. Times you will never, ever forget. Semper Fi brothers and Rest Easy Warriors to those who have passed on.

  5. After 12 years in the Corps, I took a break, and realized I missed the military enough to take another shot at it in the Guard. On the other end of that, my longest term platoon commander, for whom which I was his platoon sergeant, Agreed that I conducted myself the entire time like a Marine who was detached to the United States Army. So on behalf of every time I said some version of "You know, there's another way to do that.." I apologize for myself and perhaps some of my less tactful brothers and sisters. We are but a simple people, at times. 🤣🤷🏽 You are absolutely right about the difference in Army and Marine Corps versions of esprit de corps. My Engineers were always Engineers first and Soldiers second. But they were seriously proud of being 12Bs, and in time I came to grudgingly admit that "Essayons!" kinda grew on me too. "The Army is something you did, the Marine Corps is something you are." I don't know how right or wrong you are about the Army, But looking back at my history, and my family's history... You're absolutely right about the Corps. Thanks, SFC. This was solid. Much appreciated.

  7. I served in the US Army (2010-2021)...so...I "always" had the black beret (until I went SOF and had to buy a maroon beret). I'm also of Japanese-American descent...and know a lot of 442nd veterans...so there's a soft spot in my heart knowing that heritage. It seems like he had a wonderful career. And...thank you for verifying for me the logic behind the black berets. It was something that I had suspected upon hearing that the Rangers used to have black berets. Reminds me of The Incredibles...where the big-badguy commented that WHEN EVERYONE IS SUPER, NO ONE WILL BE. Special is only special...when it's actually special.

In fact, my unit (the School of Infantry) is standing up a professional SUAS (Small Unmanned Aerial Systems) school. Drone pilots will be trained at a no-kidding infantry school here very soon.

  12. Thanks Ryan. As a former Infantry Platoon Commander I shook my head at the accusations levelled against that video. For all of you back home who sleep peacefully because rough men stand ready to visit violence upon those who would do you harm, I laugh when the nitpicking starts. Our job is to close with and DESTROY the enemy. If that means that my tank support crushes a few baddies then that's a few less we have to shoot. Plain and simple. We leaders in the trade understand the GC clearly and ensure that our men do too. There is nothing worse than having armchair judges in the background who have absolutely nothing to lose by spouting their opinions when they would never ever have had the courage to be in the actual fight.

By the way I was the first civilian , in Montreal, to get penicillin in the beginning of 1946 I. a newborn, had contracted blood poisoning (septicemia) from a staph infection.. The standard treatment for the condition was a complete blood transfusion. That is, to change all of my blood for transfused blood.. The chances of success, for that treatment were not that good. Fortunately, they used the new antibiotic and I recovered. I subsequently got graduate degrees in microbiology (mycology), and then patent law. Again, thanks for the video.

  23. Step 1: Put tea bag and sugar (sugar optional) in empty mug Step 2: Add BOILING water and allow to brew for 2-4 minutes Step 3: Agitate the tea bag a little to make sure it mixes though. Step 4: Remove the tea bag, softly squeezing it. Step 5: Add milk. I find the perfect amount is to bring the tea level in the mug to the same level it was when the tea bag was in. Some people like more milk, more milk = weaker tea. Step 6: Sing the British national anthem and enjoy! There aren't any instructions on the box because as soon as your old enough to see over the kitchen counter you're old enough to learn how to make dad a brew!

  24. Thank you so much for this video! I think ditching the tanks was a smart move. The war on terror turned us into something we were never designed for. An occupying army. That's the Army's job. We need to be ready to fight a near peer advisory i.e. China. We know that China will use artificial islands to mount anti-ship weapons to defend the territory they steal in the ocean. Our tanks are next to worthless attacking small islands and holding them. We will go back to our roots and attack island to island. We will hold them with rocket artillery and deny our enemy freedom of movement on the sea. Tanks ARE a distraction. If we need tanks I'm sure the Army is more than willing to help us out. Semper Fi!!

  26. I can’t imagine the change in feeling that you must have in that arm. I did a traumatic amputation/reattach of a finger in 2018 and it is still freezing cold whenever the temperature drops below 50° and I’ll never have a feeling on that finger again glad you made it through brother.

  33. In desert storm, I witnessed a high intensity ground attack that was behind the front lines nearing DIVARTY formations of 1st AD 2/1 FA. I was a Manpads crew chief in DS of A Btry 2/1 FA. A mixed counter attack of Iraqi T 72s and Bmp 1 with Brdm recee support had developed a seam in the lines and was now within 2 kicks of my position on a desert tract. 2 A 10's immediately responded and pressed an attack on the Iraqi armor. There is a video on this platform that shows this engagement labeled as A 10's in Iraq. They both faced Shilka, 12.7 mm, and 23mm, as well as Strella Manpads on the 2nd and 3rd passes, rendering the Iraqis combat ineffective with no visible damage of the Warthogs. I disagree with your opinion about the effectiveness in a high intensity conflict of the A10. This was truly a high tempo and complete battlefield, and the performance I witnessed that day will never be obsolete nor unnecessary in a battlefield environment that US soldiers must occupy.
