great conversation a lot of cool stuff to learn, one thing I'll add here, there's are books which I studied in college about compilers and they have all the basics thoroughly covered regarding lexing, parse tree generation etc. so anyone who's interested can learn that, it's called "Compilers: principles, techniques and tools" -By Alfred V. Aho and Jeffrey D. Ullman, the 2nd author (Ullman) also has a book on theory of automation (book's name "Automata theory, languages, and computation") which has basics like types of grammars, creating finite automation, and push down automation etc, all of which are used in creating a compiler. as always great job on the podcasts, looking forward to the next one :)
