  11. Second trip coming up. After the first trip I began Japanese language study and reading more about the history and how the culture developed. I plan to continue this for a long time. The more I add to my knowledge the more I feel and wish to show respect to Japanese people and to learn from the cultural values, not just to see new places.

  13. I'm going to Japan for the first time soon and I'm happy that I already knew and follow most of these rules, except for sitting in weird places haha but I won't do it there! People talking loudly, standing at the train entrances while looking in their bags, strong perfumes, PDA, WHY PEOPLE WHY. Maybe I was Japanese in a past life haha

  15. Heading to Tokyo tomorrow. The timing may not be ideal, but I'm tagging along with my wife who's on a business trip. So, no matter what the weather is, it's my opportunity to go. It's 100 degrees F here and super humid - pretty awful here in the US, so it's already miserable. Perhaps, I will look for indoor shopping malls to escape any rain or bad weather in Tokyo, at least temporarily. I've heard that food courts in malls are pretty good.

  16. In every June-July, Tokyo summer hits 35°C even more heat ,wear a summer t-shirt 👕 and shorts. And, Every Sunday in every Summer-there's Street of AKIHABARA will clear the streets just enjoy around the middle of the street (no cars,no truck 🚚 traffic) from 9am to 6pm. This is better than Christmas or Golden Week. But a reminder in March, there's a event called 'Anime Japan' before April's Golden Week.

  22. Rainy season in Japan sounds like hurricane season here in Texas. I hear peak summer in japan is similar to Texas as well, so it doesn't sound that bad. I came to Japan in February the first time and i LOVED it. It rained one day, snowed the next, and was moderately cool. I will say bring gloves for that time of year. I want to go to japan in January/February again because I learned there were snow festivals and events in some part of Japan while I was there. I'm really intrigued by this. I hope to travel to japan in every season to experience local events and festivals. They're really interesting to me.

  26. Takayama, Kanazawa, Kyoto, Hiroshima… absolutely magical cities. Osaka, not so much. And Himeji Castle is a must see.

  27. I agree I thought that Osaka was highly overrated and Hiroshima, Nara and Kyoto were wonderful. I'd like to go back to Hiroshima for a week or two but I haven't visited Korea or Thailand or Vietnam yet.

  37. I agree with the idea. If you're at a fast food service being polite and attentive to how the business is structured is a requirement. To me food is an experience, so helping a business make a good decision for what kind of restaurant service they want is important. Don't like it, there are different shops!

  38. I went to Japan in early November 2023 and it was an amazing time where we only had 3 out of 17 rainy days, 2-3 other cloudy days and the rest of the days were sunny and dry. The only drawback is the limited daylight hours.

  41. That's a very good list, and if 外人 follow your suggestions, they will be less likely to 迷惑 Japanese people. Of your 13 points, there is one, about no small talk with strangers, that I've experienced differently. Men and women, young and old, have come up to me when I'm minding my own business to strike up chit-chat, or express curiosity about something. (Or once when a very sensible and concerned 御婆ちゃん wanted to ask me why I was riding my bike in the dark with 猪 all over the place!) I'm not special in any way, so I have no idea why Japanese people break your rule in my case. Of course, I'm always delighted if it happens. The people are always very friendly and these impromptu interactions are one of the many reasons I think Japanese people are very special. I hope it never stops.

Cam you make a video about how the Japanese real-estate bubble that burst in 90's affected future generations of Japanese regarding housing costs, employment, etc. I don't know how are things now but at one point Japan was 1st in the world in terms of its youths suicide rate.

  44. I actually just came back from a 3 week long stay, and i saw much of what you mentioned! While I did try to see as much of Tokyo as possible, I also tried to see more of the "real" Japan through visits to the countryside and in my passages to Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagoya, and Miyajima When i was driving up my way to Motegi to see the Honda collection hall, or to my friends house in Suwa, it felt eerie seeing so many empty houses and not a single child in sight regardless, I've enjoyed interacting with Japanese people from all walks of life, and i hope to come back soon! Already planning my second visit haha

  45. Some myths I heard that aren't true. 1.there is no trash on the streets. While the streets are pretty clean compared to many other places, there is trash around. 2. Japanese people always stand in orderly lines. This for sure isn't true, same line structure as USA, and getting on the subway people often disregard the lines. 3. All the food in Japan is good, this is certainly not true. There were some bad foods for sure when I went.

  49. Remember that Tokyo is a very dangerous city. In 2022, in my home prefecture of Miyazaki,there were only 7 murders, while the same year in Tokyo there were 91! I live in Kawasaki City just next to Tokyo now, but I never go to Kabukicho or Shibuya at night.
