@celtichistorydecoded It's important to remember celtic was a cultural group as well as a ethnic group. But yes there are quite a few blonde hair blue eyed and red haired Turks. Still very rare and it varies depending on what region your from, not all from celt ancestry. There were many peoples who came to anatolia. Most celtic DNA is probably spread out in the population. Still very interesting and my mother is from Ankara (ancrya) and so were her parents. My father's side is english, we did a DNA test and my grandfather on that side is very celtic almost no Anglo-Saxon.

That sounds like a you problem

Indeed, strange, but they are mixt with Swedish DNA. But blond hair and blue ayes are indeed not a monopoly of Germanic people.
7
Blue eyes per country (native population): Sweden 58% Norway 55% Ireland 52% Denmark 49% Scotland 46% England 45% Germany 38% Poland 36% Czecia 35% Belgium 31% Switzerland 25% Hungary 22% Bosnia 16% Romania 15% Serbia 13% Spain 10% Kosovo 9% Portugal 7%

I’m American, me too. I was just thinking that before I came upon this reply.

Blue eyed here. Dutch & Danish Ancestors.

It was very surprising when I found out that the linear pottery culture people or closely related groups also left a genetic legacy in Africa due to the mostly prehistoric migrations back to Africa: the Eurasian backflow. The Toubou people of Chad, for example, have at least some of their ancestry from this people or a related group.

I do have issue with the term ''invasion''. The Germanic people's did invade in the 5-6th century but were routinely beaten back. It was the Justinian plague of 560s that decimated the city-sates and towns of the south-east of Britain and the various Germanic tribes just walked into a near empty land. Then, incorporating the surviving Britons into new Kingdoms with the two populations quickly merging together.

Thanks for this ❤ I have a lot of overlap with Rathlin 1; he’s my closest ancient dna match on gedmatch so he has a special place in my heart. My mito h6a1b2 is thought to have arrived in Ireland and the BI via the CW/BB - who absorbed yamnayan females as they moved west.
7
I traced my ancestry back to Robert The Bruce....he was my 22nd great grandfather
7
I did my DNA, I am 18% Scottish.
7
Does anyone know the name of the knight that defected from the English side and gave vital info to Bruce? Thanks in advance.

I'm from Spain and have hazel eyes. They're green underneath with a golden brown burst (they also have some reddish brown spots). Hazel eyes are a lot of fun because they change color according to light and what you wear. I'm into makeup and like to create different looks to showcase the green or the brown. Some people are surprised to suddenly see the green when they thought my eyes were brown. One of my friends told me my eyes' color was "green honey" ("verde miel"). So poetic! 😍😂
7
In my dna I've got 17% Iberian, and they were here 5,000 years ago..

When I was a boy, my grandma (who was born in 1890) told me about the Hogmanay customs in rural Aberdeenshire, where she lived before emigrating with her family to Canada as a teenager. I always wondered why the Scots seemed to make such a big deal of the new year...now I know why! Thank you for this, and for all your informative videos.
7
I have hazel brown eyes that are almost amber except I have a good bit of green. My husband has hazel green eyes. His eyes will appear blue when he wears light blue whereas mine appear brown if I wear dark colors. Otherwise, they look hazel or amber in light colors depending on what I am wearing. Ironically our daughter has blue eyes.

Celts invited Saxons here as mercenaries for protection after Romans left.
7
great vid, I had to put the speed to 0.75 to understand it all.😃
7
Hi Steven, thank you for another great video. I enjoy watching all your videos! They are very well-researched and informative.
7
Not to diss the blonde and blue eyed beauties, but I've always found green eyed redheads the most bewitching
7
My direct line is Campbell, but i also have McKays, Mcleods, McDiarmid, Colquhoun, and MacDonalds in my family tree
7
Here's another thought- maybe the first king of England wasn't a man , maybe it was a woman hiding her gender like Boudicca?
7
I visited Culloden battlefield in 1999, and it wasn’t till August this year that I revisited, the visitors centres is very good, but I absolutely couldn’t believe my eyes at the change in the battlefield, for some reason they are not managing the vegetation and just letting it grow wild with trees etc , if this is left unchecked it will just end up a woods, how sad ….. makes you wonder if there’s a hidden agenda ?
7
Born in Dunfermline. My DNA result timeline states that it came into Scotland about 1500 years ago from just North of the Caspian sea.
7
Surely England did not sxist until the English arrived (tribes from NW Europe). Celtic England is an oxymoron. Thuere was nowhere called England until about 927AD..
7
Nice video - Gallowglass from Irish: gallóglaigh (meaning foreign warriors)
7
I am a Sinclair and know well our clouded history. Did a DNA a few year ago which showed Scottish, Irish and Welsh along with Norwegian. Makes sense since the men before me came mostly from the Shetlands.
7
My dad had brown eyes and was from Austria. My mum had a variant of grey and green eyes and was from Sweden. Most of their respective forebears had blue eyes. I have blue eyes and I am from Sweden, still lving there.
7
I did a DNA test a month ago... The result says I'm 100% Portuguese. How is this possible? And I thinking I was a citizen from the World. 😮💨
7
My haplogroup is I1a2a2a1b, it’s mostly found in Sweden and lesser amounts in Norway, England and Denmark. I am from England.
7
Irish viewer. My 4 grandparents had blue eyes. I reckon it's to do with light cos when I holiday in sunny places, the sunglasses are essential. Otherwise, the brightness kills me.
7
Me too
7
Cheers from Portugal. My town's name is Évora and its name has the same origin as York
7
I enjoyed this film. The writing, directing, and acting (especially) was EXCELLENT! The dialogue was very realistic and humorous in some parts. THEN, as the film progressed everything got dramatically DARKER. I agree, other reviews did NOT go into the old female (banshee) character. I noticed that and it puzzled me, to say the least. I honestly believe that many of the actors should receive an Oscar nomination for sure!
7
So not Scots
7
We've all got steppe ancestry
7
great job fellow celt
7
Were these Iberians that migrated more similar to the Basque, Portuguese or Spanish and is there any relation to the Vettones?
7
I have hazel- green eyes. 70% hazel and 30% green, depends on the light how it comes out. South Germany, male.
7
Hey, my USA friend just put me on you, I am from Carnarthenshire, Wales. Just told him I translated Carter Bar plaque to a half English half Scottish fella when we visited crossing there - he was amazed. Subbed. 👍
7
The Vandals, a Germanic people, estimated to have numbered 80,000 people crossed into North Africa and conquered the coastal region of Algeria and Tunisia. So that may explain the grey eyes from their genetic legacy........ maybe???
7
I was adopted so I never knew my ancestors but I was told by my preschool teacher(Mrs. Anderson) that I was Scandinavian. I did my DNA recently and she was correct. One of the tests showed a 80 percent direct match to a Nordic Viking from 800 AD. I am tall, pale, blonde but with red highlights.when I visited Denmark it was like going home. I loved the food, culture and the Danes spoke Danish to me even though I’m from the US.
7
My wife is Argentine, and her mother's family is Spanish for the most part. There is a little French and Danish in there too. The whole family has blue eyes and very light skin. My wife's father's family is northern Italian.
7
My Youngest Son has light green eyes .. but mine are blue/green with yellow around the pupil
7
Ah but medieval books do exist, There’s a book called ‘The Mabinogion’ which was translated from the Welsh language, which has my ancestors in, my many times great grandfather King Brân, who was an early King of the Silures tribe of Gwent, his sister Branwen, and his nephew Pryderi, and more. I trust that book more than any Roman version. We live on…Rome didn’t cull us!!! RYDYN NI YMA O HYD!!! ✊🏻 🏴 WE LIVE ON
7
The characters are also split when walking at least twice I think by the statue of Mary. Another Banshee?
7
My queen! And favourite ancient character!
7
Portugal and spain are interesting Only some Portugal families have Celt lineage like spain ?😊 and the United Kingdom and Ireland.
7
My ancester participated in the battle of Culloden. Named Dr Robert Carstarphen. My Uncle told me all about it when I was a child in the 1960s. My great great Grandfather was an Irishman from Dublin who married Saphronia Elizabeth Carstarphen. Her father was Robert. Their account is written in the library of congress. They settled in Alabama in what is called the Grampion Hills. Wilcox County, Alabama. Its no joke that the flag of alabama has a cross in it.Thanks so much for posting the video.
