Interesting that Calhouns are distantly related to neolithic Balkan people. How did they end up all the way over there? I'm sure it's a coincidence, but the name sort of reminds me of the name Slavs used for native Balkan populations "Houmi" or "Holmians"

as a Lumbard, thanks

Thank you friend for contributing to the education of maybe the most underappreciated fact of Scottish history.
7
Yes, several Germanic tribes which explored south crossed into north Africa. Those Berbers might possibly be related to some of them.
7
It could be cool a video about the Tuatha Dé Danann and the sons of Míl Espáine invading Ireland, is a very interesting "conection" between galicia and ireland. :) Great video
7
I'm a MacIain of Glencoe but we lived in Shetland until 1963 when our family moved to America; I was 13.
7
My eyes change color from blue, green, and gray. I was born with red hair that changes to blond and brown throughout the year. Hi I'm Xavienne with Scott/Irish ancestry.

Oh yes I identify with this. As a mix of Irish, Scottish & a dash of Scandinavian I heard the expression 'away with the fairies' many times. Someone being a bit pixilated; talk of believing in leprechauns & screaming like a banshee we're all part of the language. We're far enough from our Scandinavian origins to not share the Nordic tales of trolls but as a child the fairy stories included them. I recall adults saying they heard tales about about thunder: it was the trolls playing bowls with rocks up in the caves in the mountains. (It was quaint & amusing then but children didn't believe it)! It's all part of the rich tapestry that makes up our cultural history I believe. I think it maintains a thread of a connection with our ancestral origins.

Very nice.👍

I am Cornish from West Penwith and can converse in Cornish. Dyw genes

South Island of New Zealand is mostly basically Scottish.
7
My family is here. I’m a Slade. ( slade, sladden, Slaton)
7
I have grey eyes …. The lack of pigment basically reflects whatever color the sky is. The sky is overcast and cloudy my eyes look really washed out. If the sky is blue, my eyes look a lot lighter blue, but still very pale. I have to wear sunglasses all the time.
7
Another great video on the topic of Yamnaya descendants. Small correction to the map showing modern political boundaries relative to the Yamnaya homeland - Crimea is a part of Ukraine.
7
I would be interested to hear as much detail as possible about French/Irish dna.
7
Green eyes and freckles
7
Hazel eyes in the US here. My people are from Scotland and Ireland. Our family is full of red heàds. My mom had pale blue eyes and Dads were green. My husband has green eyes the color of olives and our daughter had beautiful dark blue eyes that turned, olive green like her Dad. And of course shes a red head.
7
It's a fabulous place and they're still discovering more additional mounds and recently during a drought a drone picked up several more undiscovered circular features in the locality that they have yet to dig and uncover.
7
The fierce highland clans maybe a descendent of the ancient people's that resisted
7
I'm half Welsh and half English and born and bred in England. Whenever I go to Wales, they tell me, "You're alright, Boyo, you're only half a bastard." 😂
7
I was blonde as child. My hair turned to light brown at about 10 years old. I have hazel eyes. R1b-L1335 S764 744 West Highland Gael Paternal DNA. However, I am an American mutt with mix of almost all west European countries.
7
My paternal grandmother is a MacLean. They came from Argyll when she was a child. I am forever proud of these roots! Thanks for your video.
7
I think the charge of genocide is probably fair, these were proto-Ghengis Khan's basically, so the Viking parallel makes sense. The eastern ones created the ancient caste system in lands they conquered and the corresponding colors to these castes are still displayed on flags across this region: White for the ruling class, red for the warrior class, and green for the farming class with distinctive hierarchy. The native people's they slaughtered were much more egalitarian, when they discovered their ancient homes, they thought it was a palace, and then they find out everybody in that time lived in a "palace"
7
That explains my eye colours! Very interesting indeed. Thank you.
7
I have hazel eyes, mostly amber with some green. I also have a ring around the outer edge that can appear grey or brown under various conditions. On the rare occasions that I wear makeup, I tend to wear a green eyeshadow to bring out the greens. Also, I have a mix of Celtic (Scots), French, and English backgrounds.
7
The Irish lore is full of wonder and dread. Hy-Brasil may be inhabited by things more fey than even the Tuatha Da Danann if it would only sit still and let us take a good look at it.
7
Stop trying to kill my fantasy that all Vikings look like Travis Fimmel 🤨lol
7
My mother had the most beautiful green eyes. My eyes are hazel, but they can change with mood and turn more green at times. I didn’t know green eyes were so rare.
7
R-M269 here mate

They were finally stopped by clan Nurmagomedov in the year of our lord 2018 😂
7
I think that is the same Brennus that sacked Rome?
7
He is scottish
7
Romans called what is today Ireland by another name as the Irish never existed in the early centuries it was called Scotia (,Scotland) and the people in Scotia were called Scotti (,Scots) it was these Scotti (,(Scots) that formed Scotland with the Picts there was never any Irish involvement as they did not exist in the 5th century
7
Thank you for the history of my ancestors👍
7
I have Davidson ancestors who where said to be from Wick in Caithness, but I don't know much about them. My mitochondrial DNA is Scottish I believe, but I have never had it tested.
7
My grandmother, named Sarah McPake, moved to Canada 1924. She was a highland dancer, and I proudly own her full kilt, Royal Stewart, except the socks. (Sword and bayonet)

Fascinating that they also discovered that there was much more immigration fron France than previously realized or at least discussed much.
7
cromwell was a monster. im glad he is gone
7
Great as always, TY.
7
Awesome video. Interesting and fun
7
Merry Christmas mate
7
Great work. Scotland's role in the British Empire cannot be understated. So many merchants, governors and empire builders were Scottish. I think Burma was unofficially known as ''the Scottish Colony'' due to the amount of investment and trade between it and Alba.
7
You know that anciently Scythia is a mistake for Skandia by Bede, so connection with that region is more likely.
7
I like to think the Irish could have defeated at least 1 legion, like come on man, it's not THAT small and it's not like there wasn't fighters there already
7
Thank you for the lesson.
7
it was a bit too graphic for me. I didn't need to see the first king sit on a bone
7
My brother and I have hazel eyes. Our mother and her brother had hazel eyes. Their mother had hazel eyes. My daughter's eyes are more brown, but my granddaughter has hazel eyes.
7
In the Netherlands there is a saying: 'Born on the correct side of the river.' Which is basically just banter if you hear an accent from the east, south or west. Perhaps there is more history to it but idk
