As a Portuguese, I found this video interesting and educational! Also, love your accent! Cheers

I'm of Scots-Irish heritage and have grey eyes. There's a guy on YouTube called Rainbolt who is maybe the world's best geoguesser, and he has grey eyes. Caitlin Clark of the WNBA also has grey eyes.

As a Fraser living in Canada my family is proud of our highland past. We kept the highland traditions strong in this foreign land.

The elephant in the room, is that the Anglo Saxon languages rapidly became the languages of Britain , without any significant contribution of Latin or native British languages. This implies that there werent a lot of Latin speakers left at the time of Anglo Saxon invasion. If there was simply a matter of an Anglo Saxon elite conquering a native Romano-British population and enforcing hegemony, you would have seen a similar pattern of linguistic shift as you see when you have a similar demographic shift during the later Norman conquest, ie the elites speak one language, the peasants speak another and the languages drift together over time. Since we dont see that pattern, and functionally no linguistic influence from RomanoBritish languages this strongly implies that the early Dark Ages RomanoBritish population was very very small and weak, and was essentially swamped by the incoming AngloSaxons

When making references to Anatolia, one should not forget to mention, that modern Turkish people settled in what is now Anatolia only from the 11th Century A.D.. They came from a region spanning Central Asia to Mongolia to Southern Siberia.

I'm a Spaniard (all my ancestors for four generations were from the province of Málaga) and I got my DNA tested a couple of years ago. I have the typical ancestry of most Spaniards but I also have 7.5% Balkan and 4.5% Ashkenazi Jewish (not Sephardic) blood. I have no idea how that happened
50
I just got my DNA test results back I am born and bred English but it turns out I was 51% Scottish and 34% English quite a suprise!
49
I'm a basque spanish and I recently took a DNA test. I'm 85% basque, 14% spaniard (unspecified) and 1% sardinian. Didn't expect to be 1% italian but it's cool I guess😂
49
I have red hair and blue eyes, big red beard with blonde eyebrows, eyelashes and mustache. Ive done the DNA tests before, and ive often gotten results back from being primarily German with a mix of Scottish, English, Swedish, Danish and Russian. I also love cold weather and I hate the sun aside from having it grow food for my food Looks like i checked off just about every box xD

The sister's name Siobahn can mean 'white fairy' and comes from the same roots as Banshee. She is the first one to predict that Colm "does not like you anymore' to her brother in the scene where she is hanging laundry.

I come from a large Irish family …my mother had gray eyes father had hazel brown eyes they had 3 boys with brown eyes, 1 girl with green hazel, 1 girl green blue, 1 boy gray, and 1 boy deep blue eyes…
49
My husband’s eye color has changed as he’s aged. At 32, his eyes were a medium ( milk chocolate) brown. Now, at 74, his eyes are hazel, with green being the dominant color.
48
My son has hazel-green- grey eyes. They shift colors according to the color of clothes he wears. Light levels also change his eyes.
48
Blue eyes, lighter skin, taller. Just like a plant reaching for light. That is how we humans adapted. The blue eyes, to adapt to lower light northern regions.
48
Now you've done it. I've got grey/green eyes and now I'm feeling all special like.
48
I’m 75% Norwegian and 25% Sami. My mother had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. My father was blonde with blue eyes. All my relatives are mostly tall and slender. Proud of my heritage!
48
I love his accent 😂
48
I think green eyes are awesome. I have brown eyes. But in the end, it isn't so much about the color as about the person's personality showing in their eyes. Eyes are windows of the soul!
47
The Highlanders were replaced by Sheep, because their own elites saw more money in wool, mutton and lamb than in rent. Let that sink in as a lesson for all time.
47
I just found out I have French DNA. This was nice to watch.

Some years ago, I was thumbing through a book in a Barnes & Noble in Emeryville, CA. The author mentioned that during their spread south, the ancient Germanic tribes absorbed an Indo-European-speaking population that lived along the Rhine. The Germans are conscious of a phenotypical difference in their population. I remember a date and I once talking to a young German lady from the Rhineland who noted how stereotypically Germanic we were with our blond hair and green and blue eyes, and that she was a "swarthy" Rhinelander. The waviness of my date's blonde hair was no doubt a legacy of her ancestor Robert E. Lee.

Greetings from Ireland. I have always marvelled how people across so much of Europe all look so similar. A solitary irishman can blend into the crowd everywhere from the Uk to Greece. From the pyrenees to Russia. The answer.....similar ancestors.
46
hazel green eyes with golden flecks that definitely appear to shift hues at times ~ both my parents have blue: dad's background's irish & welsh, mom's is irish & scottish - but my grams always asserted not scotch irish
46
She's tatar but lives close to udmurtia

Excellent overview! I'm Dutch from Frisian decent on my father's side an Hugenot from my mother's side of the family. The cultural divide between north and south is real but not divisive in nature.
45
Fascinating, i had no idea hazel was more rare than blue
45
The east was the economical and scientific heart of the empire and it lasted until 1453 (or 1461).
45
The Vikings sailed down major water ways all over Europe which is why there are so many Ukrainians with blue and green eyes. The Vikings sailed down the river Dnipro and left their DNA behind in the local women. Blond hair and blue eyes is very common in Ukraine.
45
I don't like Hollywood's sexuality insertions, race swapping or gender change of historical characters.
45
I was born with hazel eyes. They turned green as I got older.
45
I have green eyes with dark brown hair and very pale skin. Greetings from Germany ☺️

2006 is stone age when it comes to genetic science. The Sykes study was very crude and just looks at uniparental markers. It is completely debunked. Just look at studies since 2015 to understand ancient genetics. Cunliffe's theory doesn't hold water since the spread of Celt material culture begins in central Europe. The POBI study didn't actually use ancient samples to determine the Anglo-Saxon ancestry while the 2016 one from nature did, but only ten samples so wasn't as conclusive as the new one from this week which has hundreds of samples including 80 Anglo-Saxon skeletons. The new paper is the only one you need to refer to for this

Celtic Druids are the Dhruyu tribe mentioned in the Rig Veda that at some point emigrated from India in the Proto-Indo European phase.

Spot on. Just to point out that the town you mentioned is nowadays the city of Porto or Oporto in northern Portugal and it was the border between Galicia or Callaecia and Lusitania to the south. All northern Portuguese and Spanish from Galicia are descendants of the Callaeci or Gallaeci or Kallaikoi in ancient Greek and not the Lusitanos, although they were very much related to each other. Also the river Douro in Porto comes from the Celtic or Callaecian word Dwr meaning water. Only recently i realised that some words that i learned with my older family members and i still use them are only spoken in the north of portugal and some come from Celtic like Anho in Portuguese - Akno in Celtic meaning lamb, the rest of the country call it borrego. Camisa (shirt ) is Celtic too. As many others. The trade and DNA links in those times would go all the way from Iberia to Cornwall and parts of southern England , Wales, Ireland and Scotland. I wonder if Galway in Ireland could be related to “the way to Calle or Galle” depending on the pronunciation . Thats maybe why i fell so at home living in Somerset,England. Most northern Portuguese festivities named after catholic Saints were in fact pagan festivals and one of the biggest being São João (st John) in Porto. It was a festival to the Gods of harvest and fertility. Anyway, great video. Congrats 👏🏻

I'm Portuguese, this is my DNA results: 62.7% Iberian 23.1% English 4.5% Italian 2.8% Ashkenazi Jew 4.3% North African 1.7% Nigerian 0.9% middle east

I'm descended from Colin Campbell (Argyll branch) and was fortunate to visit Castle Campbell and Inverary Castle a couple of years ago. Exploring the land of my roots was a big bucket list item fulfilled for me.
43
You’ll find a lot more blonde people in Lithuania, I was quite surprised to see even more than I had in Sweden. Specially outside of Vilnius.
43
Was always told I was English. Did a DNA test and found out I am 30% Scot. That might explain my love for Scottish music. 😊
43
Virginia, USA here! I have green eyes, freckles and auburn hair. My family ancestry is primarily from Scotland.
43
The Western Europeans captured by the Barbary pirates and taken into slavery may also have had a genetic impact on the Middle East, possibly increasing the percentage of people with light eyes.
43
That shot of her beckoning the sister to walk into the water was SUPERR creepy.. especially since she had her shoes off an that's the lake the parents drowned in
43
I'm hazel. Appalachian Scot mostly.
42
I absolutely loved this movie. Saw it two weeks ago and am still thinking about it. Will definitely see it again (and again?) Thanks for educating us on Banshees. Also, thanks to all who are contributing their thoughts in the comments. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

The dark hair didn't come from southern Europe it came from native population of Scandinavia's hunter gatherers, which have dark hair and blue eyes. The blond hair, light skin and green/ grey eye color came from Corded Ware people who invaded Scandinavian countries 2500BC. They introduced R1a haplogroup to the natives I1 haplogroup, The R1b haplogroup came mostly from slaves, which Vikings brought from Britain (R1b being the Celtic haplogroup) in big numbers.
42
Celts are true serbs!!!!!
42
4.7% of my DNA is Scandinavian. I have blue/gray eyes and strawberry blonde hair. I'm already silver, so I color my hair now.
42
I have grey eyes, with a hint of blue. My son and 5 siblings are the same. We got them from our dad. They have different colour flecks in them. I've always wished for bluer ones, or green, but I just appreciate that they work.
42
Ancient Celtic settlements in Galicia and Northern Portugal are very visible today and they form a tapestry of the many peoples who make up the Iberian DNA.
42
Hello from the Welsh American Channel. We Welsh Americans are very proud of our DNA, ancient heritage and our achievements in the US. Cymru am byth!"
