I have R1b and U5a1a1 from parents lines. I am basically North Western European 99.8%. Are we not all just Europeans who created tribal identities that became Nations which invaded each other and mixed the gene pool?

Great video! I would love a follow-up, Andrew Jackson is interesting. Maybe you could do prime ministers? I heard Scot’s are overrepresented!

My father told me a story of our ancestors. We were an elite army who were chosen to explore the west. And we traveled with our families to find new land. Out of the steppes. The long grasslands. He said, this is an oral history

Our lot is supposed to have a Banshee attach ed to us called Meelin

Thanks for this! Scottish immigrants were important figures in the early development of Canada, generally. The first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald; the man who made the transcontinental railroad possible, Lord Strathcona; and the first colonial governor of the province where I live, Sir James Douglas (who was of mixed Scots and Guyanese parentage). Speaking of British Columbia, the famous explorers of the mainland were all Scots-born or of Scottish parentage: Simon Fraser, Sir Alexander Mackenzie, John Thompson, John Stuart, etc. - working for the Hudson's Bay and Northwest Companies.

Scotia's grave is in Ireland according to tradition.

This is very interesting for me. I was adopted at 7 days old and never knew my birth parents. I recently found out through DNA, that I'm 20% Native American, along with Scottish and Welsh.

Im surprised you didnt mention the Norwegian viking influence on the all the islands off the west coast of Scotland. Also the far north of the Scottish mainland like, Caithness and Sutherland. These areas were largely colonised by the vikings. Most of the western isles of Scotland belonged to the King of Norway until 14th century, with some islands not becoming part of Scotland until the end of the 15th century. Usually they were bought by the Scottish crown or given to Scotland as part of a treaty. However there is a large Norwegian genetic legacy left in these islands. Which has been shown in other studies. Perhaps not in the one you mention.

Any Indo on "Clan Keith?"

I wonder if you can make a video about the genetics of the berbers. I was going to ask for a video about the influence of the bell beaker culture over North africa but I didn't think there would be much to talk about, so probably a short.

Close to home and long ago...

I'm a Finland-Swede from Ostrobothnia, Finland, with mostly Swedish ancestry (but I also have some Finnish ancestors from South Ostrobothnia, who switched to Swedish and Swedified their names in the 1500s and 1600s)

I am from Clan MacDonald, with 28% Scottish . I would love to hear the genetics from this clan. Thanks!
5
I could listen to you talk all day :)!! I speak English, of course, Spanish, American Sign Language, Pidgeon Signed English, and Sign Exact English. I know that technically only three of these are bonified languages, but the other two still count in my book and were just as hard to learn. Toodles and thank you for the awesome video.

The altar incident with Comyn always intrigued me. Surely Comyn didn’t arrive alone. How did that not result in a skirmish between Comyn’s men and Bruce’s? What did Comyn’s people claim afterward? Some things don’t seem to add up about it.
5
Very good but you might find that the area was called Britannia. The tribes where called the Caledonii because they inhabited the area of Britain called Caledonia. By your reconing the North of England should be called Briganteland. Wikipedia says the following "Caledonia (/ˌkælɪˈdoʊniə/; Latin: Calēdonia [käɫ̪eːˈd̪ɔniä]) was the Latin name used by the Roman Empire to refer to the part of Great Britain (Latin: Britannia) that lies north of the River Forth, which includes most of the land area of Scotland."
