Some believe that they made it as far inland as Minnesota via the Great Lakes. They definitely would have explored further inland via rivers as was their approach in many parts of Europe and even the Middle East. The Kensington Runestone supposedly found in Minnesota by a Swedish farmer in 1898 is the closest we have for proof, and it’s highly debated whether or not it’s genuine. Even if it’s not, one can’t help but imagine Viking voyages far inland to the Americas and their encounters with native Americans.

Thank you. I enjoy all of your work. As always, I look forward to your next one.

Always learn something interesting from your presentations. Thanks, 👍🏼.

Thank you, for your work. Love cream and butter! Now I know why. Think on, that our success is also due to our 'Cooperation and Inquisitiveness'. However, History is often measured by our present day bias and dogma(s). Good detective work is not that easy,

I have hazel eyes as did my mother and her mother tracing back 5 generations to Ireland. I am Australian. Both of my sons have hazel eyes too. It seems like it’s hereditary to me but I suppose that doesn’t rule out environmental reasons for its origin.

I have been musing about the connection between the civil war in the movie and the breakdown of the friendship and I found it an imperfect parallel, however another thought struck me. What if the breakdown in the friendship mirrored the relationship between Ireland and Britain...Páraic representing an uncomprehending Britain, not really getting why Ireland wanted to go it's own way, forge it's own destiny, while Colm struggled to break away, with the self-harm mirroring the Civil War?

A Scythian journey to Britain is not that far fetched. Apparently, Strabo and Herodotus recited that the Scythians had invaded southward through the middle east until they reached Egypt in the 7th century BC. Meaning that they would have controlled the major coastal trading city of Tyre. It is well known that the middle east was trading with Britain via sea routes to purchase British Tin for use in Bronze production. A Scythian diplomatic expedition along these trade routes to let the Britons know that there was a new player in the middle east is feasible.

Very informative Steven Coch 😊 Barbarians Lol the Scottish were just bloody brilliantly fierce fighters! If the Romans hadn’t of invaded, I’m sure this isle would be fully speaking Brittonic, and Gaelic. I don’t like the Scotland History Tours guy…he’s very rude to people.
5
My mob were from Aberdeenshire descended from the pict farmers and quite proudly gave the Romans hell ! 😂 Slainte !

I tried to research my maiden name Black. Family from Scotland. The best they could do was from the picts they were dark people. I may meed to dig more. Lol.

I love this stuff; really fascinating. Any idea how present phenotypes might map onto these genetic histories? I know it would be generalized, but still very interesting.
5
I'm Portuguese. No Celtic, Italian or north african DNA.

Thanks for this video! I’m from Serbia and I recently found out I have celtic descent. Very interesting to find more out about my heritage

I don't know where the science is regarding the hypothesis (theory?) but some genetic genealogists are now claiming the reason Indo-Europeans were able to replace neolithic Europeans so quickly (at least the male lines) was due to the bubonic plague. Neolithic Europeans were farmers thus were in closer contact to plague carrying rats than were the nomadic Indo-European pastoralists. Sounds plausible and has a historical analogue with the replacement of Native American male lines by Europeans in the Americas. In both cases, disease cleared the way for demographic change.

My fathers Family (MacLennan) came from Scotland, Kyle of Lochalsh. and whilst visiting Scotland i visited Dunadd fort and Kilmartin glen. I visited many neolithic sites in the UK but Dunadd was a favorite, Great video Keep up the great work i look forward tunning into more. from Australia

I think there's much truth to the stories being told in books like the Leabhar Gabala Eirenn ; names of the invading races are literally names of real groups of people that lived within sailing distance of the Isles - let me explain: "Nemedians" = North African Numidians "Fomorians" one translation called the Fomorians " Na Fir Morricci " or " Men from Morrocco " ( mind you, Morrocco was said to be home to the Titan ATLAS - titan, fomorian giant; same-same..?🤔 ) "Milesians" Greeks from Miletus in Anatolia , right across the Mediterranean from Egypt , Greeks settled in Spain, where Mil Espaine & Goidel Glas were from ( Goidel Glas was from Gades , which today is Cadiz . It was a Phoenician port city [if Phonecians could travel across the Mediterranean to Spain, then so could Milesian Greeks from Turkey & their Egyptian girlfriends😎]) Those Greek Milesians that settled in Spain ? THEY LIKED TO DATE EGYPTIANS ! Greco/Egyptian relations were GREAT ! Of course a Milesian could've dated an Egyptian woman of nobility like Scotia ! IT HAPPENED ALL THE TIME ! I think there's A LOT more to these stories than people realise; there were EGYPTIAN ROYALTY IN SCOTLAND technically speaking, there were Gypsie Kings of Scotland said to descend from nomadic EGYPTIANS (á lá Scotia..?🤔😏) it's MIND BLOWING the tattered bits of history & myth that we can try to piece together with some possible probability

Reading the Mummies of Urumchi points out that they also made tartan plaid materials. One mummy has a conical shaped hat, like a witch or warlock would have. The theory of a central Asian origin sounds quite plausible. Hello from a Silesian Texan with blue gray eyes and reddish hair.
5
I like the fact that it means scottish Kings and Queen are only in there position as long as the people of Scotland allow it.
