  2. I have recently had my DNA analysed. I am 30% English, 48% Celtic (Scottish, Irish, Welsh) 7% Finnish and the rest of the 15% from the Balkans and originating from Southern England. The latter two are more ancient than the rest. Interesting! When younger, my hair was auburn and my eyes are blue. I also have freckly, fair skin.

  9. Hello. What MOST people don't know Is that the Scots were Irish colonisers in the first place. The Romans called the Irish raiders/colonisers/ settlers SCOTTI. IRELAND was the original SCOTLAND--called SCOTIA and the Irish were settling ALBA { as it was then} Eventually Alba was renamed SCOTLAND...........Meaning Land of the SCOTTI{ i.e. Land of the IRISH------------ just as NEW ENGLAND was named after the English}. ALSO, the County of ARGllYSHIRE has the same meaning as SCOTLAND-------it means LAND OF THE GALES-----that is , SCOTTI-------MODERN IRISH.

  10. I am light-skinned with reddish-brown hair and am allergic to the sun. Since childhood I burn when exposed to the sun's rays. It's painful and itches to the point where my skin breaks out in tiny bumps that turn from white to red. I stay covered completely from the sun and heat, another thing that triggers the pain.

  11. I am in USA. My brother & I have hazel eyes. Our mother's father & 1 of her sister's had hazel eyes. Our mother was 1/2 Native American. Her eyes were almost black, & our American Irish/Scottish Dad had blue eyes.

  13. The theory that they made it further south is because grapes didn’t grow in Newfoundland, so it doesn’t make much sense (at least from our perspective) to have called that area Vinland. It’s thought they made their way down the St Lawrence & possibly into what became New England., where we know grapes did grow. If I remember correctly, they also were in Baffin Island too. They were incredible sailors - not to mention brave.

About three weeks ago my DNA results came , they also sent me printed letter to explain a few things, my results told me that my heritage is a very high 81% Anglo Saxon, the Angles, Saxon's and Jutes From South Denmark and Northern Germany. 9% Southern Sweden 10% Norwegian, a bit of a mixture, but they all settled in what is now England. As for Celts or early Britons most were driven out of what is now England or simply killed off, so very little if any DNA remains. The Angles, Saxons, Jutes and Danes who occupied England first unified about 927 AD out of previous Kingdoms of Saxons Jutes and Angles. Athelstan being the first King of England but it wasnt called England until around 1000AD the it was first referred to as Engla Land two words prior to that it was the Land of the Angles or Saxons and part of Land of the Danes, collectively Anglia, and yes I am a Historian.

  16. Very interesting. I really like this video. Ill watch the red hair video next. The current chief of my clan is Robin Malcolm who lives in Duntrune Castle in County Argyle. Our clan has a connection to clan Campbell. In 1685, Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyle, led a rebellion in protest to a Catholic becoming King of Britain. Archibald was caught, tried, and beheaded. As far as we know, John Neil McCollum, my ancestor, was in that rebellion. He was sentenced to be "transported" to New Jersey to work on the king's plantation. Do you know what my family would look for in a DNA test? Also, my Daddy was a redhead as were 3 of my brothers. My Daddy had hazel eyes. They were kinda a mix of brown and blue. 2 of my brothers had red hair/blue eyes. I was blond with blue eyes. Also, my blood type is A and RH negative. I only bring up the RH factor because it's rare but very common in Red heads and blue eyes and Scotland is one of the nations where RH negative is more common, like the Basque region, and since Rh negative is recessive it must run in my family.

Sir Kenneth MacKenzie and Lady Margaret Elizabeth Stewart are my 16th great-grandparents through their son Colin MacKenzie. Sir Lachlan Maclean, 14th clan chief, was my 15th great grand father.

  22. From a linguistic perspective Hallstatt culture seems too late to have been the original source of the main proto-Celtic language expansion. For instance, professor Patrick Sims-Williams purposes that Celtic languages expanded from France into both Britain and Iberia about 1,000 BCE, and genetic data also support the existence of a massive migration from France since Late Bronze Age. Quoting Patrick Sims-Williams: "we come up with the plausible hypothesis that Celtic need not have begun to spread from a central homeland (roughly France) much before c. 1000 bc. This economical hypothesis represents a reasonable starting point for future work and is open to falsification by the discovery of new inscriptions or other data."

  28. Well... there has to be some competitive advantage involved with blue eyes since (supposedly) a mutation created a single human with blue eyes about 7,000 years ago and now a significant percentage of the world population has blue eye genes.

I think we have the wrong image of ancient celts of the British isles, from what I understand much of our understanding of celts came from what the romans wrote about them, but they were usually referring to celts from mainland Europe when they describe them as being like uncivilised barbarians, besides Boudicca I don’t think there’s much mention from them of the celts from Britain. Like i say though that’s just my own novice understanding of it 😅 i reckon British celts were probably quite chilled out, that could be another reason why there’s not much notable history remarked by the romans because maybe they integrated cultures pretty well haha I dunno just a thought, not actually watched the video yet 🙈😂

  46. Im Spanish, Northeastern Spanish to be exact, and used to be red hair as a kid, now in my 30s Im blond and have bluish-greenish eyes. My beard is a blend of blond with reddish tonnes though. Im also tall (185cm) and have white-pink cheeks. I can blend easily among anyone in northern or central Europe and people a lot of times have a hard time thinking I'm spanish because they always think of the stereotyped spaniard (which isnt even true all across the country).

  47. My dad's eyes were hazel, the most common color in my family. The second most prominent color is amber, then brown. After that is - like mine - blue. My daughter has the rarest in the family, very green eyes! Just for reference, we're a Back-American family! 🧿👀👁️👁️‍🗨️👓😊

  48. According to “23 and me” my dna test results links me to having share a paternal-line ancestor with Niall of the Nine Hostages. R-M269 hopefully if there’s any inheritance that qualifies me$$😂, also I’m from Puerto Rican descent but there is plenty of green eyes , blond hair, freckles in the bloodline, lots of strong connections with Celtic hailing from Spain Galicia
