Way to go ladies and gentleman. You rock. And all associated.

This explains so much. I have always been confused about pruning. Everything he explained the “why” of now makes sense. Excellent!
42
I know this is possibly not what I was meant to take away from the video, but seeing the repair in Anne's jeans as she was crouching down to show us stuff made me so happy. It's not the point of the video at all, but it shows that Anne is the same person and carries the same values through all aspects of her life. Huge respect.

"We started the week as friends and ended as acquaintances." LOL! Love the build.
42
Wouldn't it be amazing if we all came out of the womb knowing what we were meant to do and had a passion for it!
42
I love how safety conscious the friend is. he's right. less time on the ladder the best.
42
Probably the only time anyone has EVER said 'Dolly Parton, you're such a jerk' !!!!
42
I had a garage built for me this past fall. I had followed the contractor on social media for 10 years, I did research and found others who had used them to get feedback and I checked with the BBB looking for problems. Still my nerves were on edge through the entire build because of nightmare stories like this one. My project was completed on budget and on time. I hope the issues you are having will be overcome and your dreams realized.

As a Dutch person it is nice to know not everyting dutch in the english langauge is negative :) Nice build.

Anne, you’re one hell of a woman.

When we had Lamas and Alpacas, I would hum as I walked up to them. It helped most of the time when I tried to catch them.
39
Anne, I'm impressed by how well you took instructive criticism from Dan. You were very mature and graceful about it.
39
😅 I just really love you so much! Im 52, and I can honestly say that YOU have taught me the most about gardening! You are extremely REAL! I honestly feel like I'm watching a friend. You are an extremely knowledgeable individual, and you are a great teacher! I'm in Western Maine. There are several feet of snow on the ground.... "Poor man's fertilizer." Ugh, I've had enough already!!! Just scattered my celery and onion seeds on see-through trays of potting soil. It's going to be "a few" months before anything is going on or in the ground for me 😢 hands-in-dirt..... best mental health medicine out there.... I'm right with you! I think you are an absolute fabulous person, Anne! I love your videos! I love your homestead! My ADHD showing.... anyways. Keep making videos, etc! I'll keep sharing them!!!
38
Bugs having orgies in the garden. Love the funny analogy. I guess that's why my wife and I enjoy watching, listening and learning from you. We LOVE this channel. Dave and Vicki from OC California
38
Didn’t hear a single word you said every time I saw the baby goats 😍😂
38
Me too, except that I'm 63 and my husband is 74...AND we never had children. So while we've done a great job working hard, living frugally and now having a relatively large tract of land where we're building our homestead, etc, we're clear that a strong, nurturing, reliable community is our answer to a good life in our old age. Who wants to live alone anyway?
38
I usually don't like videos that are longer than 10 minutes, but you? I'll watch every time. You're very informative, well-versed with what you're doing, humble, and quirky/funny. Thanks for bringing us into what you're doing!
38
I don't have a homestead, I just really enjoy your videos. I watched this one with my five year old granddaughter, and she loves it. She loves animals. Now she's asking to watch one about cows. No problem - thank you, Anne!
38
ugh this is giving me traumatic flashbacks from my two renovations. Every single person I know that has built or renovated has had the same experience due to HORRIBLE workers/contractors. It is insane the amount of incompetence that comes from these “professionals” you pay A LOT of money to. I’m so sorry you went through this!!
38
Omg I miss seeing your smiling face. Welcome back.
37
Love that only 9 minutes in and they both have made LotR references. “One tree limb to rule them all” and 5 mins later “…the lead that will become our Precious”. Lol Also, great fruit tree info.
37
... it had never occurred to me that I could rake the pathway woodchips that had been breaking down all winter onto my beds to add easy decomposed matter to my soil. I had just been dumping new wood chips on top of my paths over and over as the mulch slowing "disappeared". I'll be going out in to my garden right now, that you
37
@AnneofAllTrades that last line actually made me tear up a bit 🥹 as your genuine love for the animals came straight through the screen with your plea for their good welfare to be top priority. Bless your heart, I hope this message gets through to people ❤

😂

I’m 87 & disabled so I can’t do my 1/4 acer garden anymore! However, I had a fellow dump cedar chips next to my raised beds and another friend gave me large pots for the other side of my rose bush! He’s putting up a wrought iron fence over those for me so I’m sooo looking forward to spring and seeing my climbing beans 🫘 and the yams 🍠 growing in my cedar mound and the rest of my raised beds! Also the accidental cantaloupes 🍈 I grew year b4 last! Last year was too cool here in WA State! The year b4 the fellas threw their cantaloupe 🍈 seeds in my compost and they planted themselves too late! I got 6 but they didn’t ripen soon enough b4 our first frost! I ate crunchy anyway!

"There's always a way to rectify your laziness" is honestly just about the most empowering statement I've ever heard, and I'm planning on using it as a daily affirmation.
36
Anne, I absolutely love the humor you bring to everything. Informative and hilarious.
36
All I can say is WOW!!!!! You are amazing! Your farm is amazing. How much you must learn everyday. I wish I could join you! The work is never-ending. Have fun. So glad I found you here! This is more fun than gping on a shopping spree~
36
I usually much prefer your videos that have you making things or working with the animals, but this was surprisingly informative and had a lot of interesting new concepts to learn about. Thanks for teaching me! Daniel was great!
36
I topped my garden with mulch from my local mulch pile this year. With all those wood chips I figured I'd try less watering this year, and O my goodness what a difference. I've water my garden maybe 3-5 times this year, all the rest has been rain fall. My tomatoes taste better it's been my best pepper year so far, and I was able to support a very dense planting of lettuce,beans/peas, and onion. Definitely a smart method for everyone to use.

My late father-in-law was a pioneer AI tech in the early 1950s before AI was widely available. The university that developed it sent graduates out as missionaries for the new technology. He moved his family from Wisconsin to Minnesota, Oregon, and Pennsylvania between 1951 and 1964. After that you no longer needed a MS in Science to fertilize cows. The history of AI really needs to be on the History Channel.

Anne you are absolutely one of my favorite YouTubers to watch ever, and this video is 💯💯💯 one of the reasons why I keep coming back. It helps so much when influencers are full disclosure and are humble and secure enough to come back and cover some things that may have been unhelpful advice, and it means so much that you care enough about those looking to you for tips for you to correct and fix or elaborate on the things you since learned something better. 🙏🏼 So thank you from the bottom of my heart for being awesome and for learning with us and helping us learn with caveats! All of the love. ✨🙏🏼💕

Another use what you got. Great video. Always inspiring. Someone took a bucket of leaves and used a paint mixer attached to a drill to pulverize her gathered leaves. Kind of a good jump start on making soil. 👍🏻
35
I found this way of gardening a couple years ago. I now grow beautiful flowers and food not lawn. Glad I found you.
35
Annie you are truly a Goddess, not only are a fantastic carpenter, but you have a bottle of Lagavulin as well.
35
That cicada was just trying to help you illustrate what you're up against 😂😂

These are great tips…specifically for people with ADHD. It has nothing to do with being lazy, and everything to do with being neurodivergent. It’s surreal watching this, is as if I’m watching myself explain all the things I do/have done to try to manage myself in a world that isn’t set up for me, except through the lens of a full fledged farmer. Your first tip about dairy animals getting you up in the morning, I literally got chickens for the same reason, and did not install automated doors, so I had to get up, dressed, and go let them out. Thanks for normalizing the need to for good mental health.

Just happened on to your channel. I’ve been a great fan and owner of GPs for more than 15 years. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but my first training routine has been to walk my dogs, every day for weeks along my fence line (yeah, that’s a big plus for me). My dogs learned to respect and stay within that boundary. The only two escapes I had were unintentional… one dog was chasing a squirrel that was running on top of a livestock fence and my girl wasn’t looking where she was going and went through a solid wood fence. Luckily she didn’t wander off. The other was on New Year’s Eve when someone drove by (100 yards away) and threw a bunch of big firecrackers which spooked my old boy and he broke down a wooden gate to get away. He went to his’safe’ place, a nearby wooded pond and waited for me. As for barking, if some predators are near, they will start. As long as everyone nearby is safe, I go out and take the lead dog role showing them that I am just as concerned as they are and look in the direction they are barking at (usually with a flashlight) until they settle. I have since only needed to shine the flashlight out there and they settle. Those are just my experiences in my situation and I know yours are different, just sharing what has worked for me. I wish you luck, health and prosperity. You certainly deserve it!

Your honesty and humor/sarcasm is what keeps me here! Your videos have definitely sent me down my own research rabbit holes. I have learned much from you last year, and I appreciate you! Looking forward to all your content this year :)
33
It’s good to have real friends ❤️
33
I just dug my walkways into my rows today - it was glorious. The soil is getting more and more beautiful every year from this very same practice. :) Agreed.
33
"I am trying to save 5 cents here"...lol...so much love for you lady...
33
Oh MYLANTA - you are the only person I've found that uses that phrase! My family has used it for years! You are my people! LOL
32
I once saw this advice for fencing goats - build your fence. Throw a bucket of water at it. If the water goes through, so will the goats, eventually. Thankfully, eventually can be quite a long time, and my best advice is: build it tight, build it tall, and have at least two fences and 100 feet between your does and your bucks.
32
I appreciate you sharing the full spectrum of emotions. Some need to learn to recognize that all feelings allow for an enhansed self. Thank you.
32
Stoked every time you stick a new video on here. No pressure honestly but it brings joy.
32
Such great information! We fostered our friend's small Nigerian dwarf herd for a couple of years, it was then that I learned I was a goat person. We are now moving to another farm with 30 acres of goat hill paradise. I am so excited to get my own fiber goats next year. I really miss having them in my life! ❤
32
You are an extremely hard worker, I love farms
31
I love how curious the animals get while you're filming. So much fun.
31
Farmers are severely under-appreciated. Just want to say thank you for all that you do.
