Bruh, compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world. I'm lucky I learned that in 2004 at my first job out of college, which was a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley. Imma gunna start a business, hires my kids at a young age, and auto deposit their earnings into their retirement account. Now that's a head start!

Storytelling is the advice that resonated with me. I have so many things to yap about, but I don't tell good stories.

Congratulations π π π. Looking forward to hearing more from you and I hope that you and your wife get more quality sleep.

Man I don't know why Youtube algorithms recommend you only now? Your content is pure gold, keep doing. Nowadays it is very hard to find an open opinion on all questions of Tech Industry from mature and experienced senior persona. There too much junior and newbie opinions around. Just want to give you motivation to keep doing, maybe small one, but still :D

The sudden realization that youre time poor combined with sharing that youre middle aged sounds like the classic middle age transition! Life is too short to not pursue what you want to do. It sounds like you have a good plan though, really looking forward to the videos you end up creating next!

Great video Steve. Love how you're being vulnerable with your audience. Glad that this video isn't just abt work stuff. Yes we should try to grow our careers but there's more to life than your job and you are in control of your identity. One big lesson in college was that any major life step, you can rebrand yourself to who you want to be. Your identity isnt 100% set in stone

If you're wondering if Steve can really get you promoted, he got me promoted.

as a fellow dad, let's celebrate your kid turning 3 months old and sleeping for 5-6 hours through the night. Farnsworth voice Huzzah!!

Thank you for this video. Iβve tried for a senior promo without much guidance and I think I instead harmed my relationship with my manager. Trying again feels like itβll trigger some trauma, so I settled with just being a high performer in my current role. Iβll try to implement the pieces in this video and try again next time. π

I wonder how much the specific technology with a specific application in a niche field (8:00) is distinguishing candidates Still, worth a try!!

Your content is truly awesome Uncle Steve, I am a Brazilian that has always watched your content. I think it has been some months now. I generally watch when I am waiting for a PR review. You helped me become a better developer, after watching your videos I started paying more attention to the business side of things and to track impact instead of faster and better code all the time. I understand perfectly were you are at, I just married (3 months ago) and I am super happy that I am going to be a father. Wish you the best, will continue following you up close! Thanks for the amazing content!

I just found your channel today and literally had to force myself to stop listening so I could focus on my actual work. I'm so glad I found this channel. Thanks

Doing the right thing, at the right moments, according to your principles, is hard. Eishowermatrix or the adapted version of Stephen Covey helped me a lot.
