  11. I experienced this very thing. I was seriously shopping and looked at Broncos at my local Ford dealer. They don’t have a single 25 but instead a line of around 20 2024’s. The discount was about 10% if you were a veteran, first responder, student, and repeat customer. I didn’t qualify for any. I went the next day and bought new tires for my paid for vehicle. Let them rot!

  21. I tried to buy a preowned Corolla cross for my daughter on Saturday , 2 days ago. The salesman tried to turn my daughter against me. Every time I said I need to talk to my daughter alone he’d walk away and say something as he was walking to get the last word in. We walked out. Went to another dealer who had the same car with less miles actually. We bought it. Great experience. The original dealer called me today, Monday. Ask me to come back. I said I already bought something else. Don’t be afraid to walk away. I got the same car with less miles and more features. Yes it was more money but I left the first dealer cause of shady sales tactics, not due to the money.

  23. I just got rid of a $700 monthly payment on a 2022 Dodge Challenger widebody scat pack. State Farm doubled my insurance on the scat pack just for the hell of it. I only put 600 miles on it in one year. Lol. Got my money back and I am done! Dealerships were offering me $40,000 for my scat pack. What a fucking joke. Sold it to a very happy buyer for $47,000. He had been looking around and a “fully loaded” ($68,800 MSRP) scat pack widebody anywhere else was about $52,000 used. Now I will enjoy my 1968 Pontiac Firebird forever. Paid off and only pay $200 for six months of insurance. Screw that!

  31. Buying one of these new vehicles is the 1st major expense. Maintaining it will be the second. I doubt many of these cars will last 10 years before they bankrupt their owners with all the tech built into them. Bring back the cars and trucks made in the 90's and 2000's

  32. Toyota's CEO quit in 2023 for a reason, there were changes he wasn't willing to make because he understood his consumer. He knew what made their brand, and he wasn't willing to compromise... obviously others were, but as they are finding out, the old CEO understood the consumer better.

  33. My rule for young people: Buy any vehicle with cash, do not take a loan. Shun debt, it is a killer. Buy a car you can afford and drive it until it drops. Make car payments into a bank account, saving for a condo, house, townhouse, whatever. Don't "invest" in depreciating assets, like a car. Get a home, stop the annual rent increases, the mortgage that is painful now will be fine after a few years of inevitable inflation. After that it gets easier. Grabbing for too much too soon in your life can damage your life. Yeah, a shiny new car would be nice, but in the long run it will be a hindrance when you go to buy a home and find that your debts limit your options and hike your interest rate.

The blame for the crazy car price increases fall on 4 parties - the manufacturers who raised the MSRPs to insanely high levels, the dealers who tried to take every last dime out of the pockets of consumers, the banks for approving loans for these overpriced new and used cars at 140-150% LTV, and the consumers for being so insanely eager to overpay for these cars. I'll bet that 90% of the people who bought cars from 2020 to 2022 didn't actually need a car. They saw their neighbors buy one so they thought they had to "keep up with the Jones' " or they though they had to flex on social media, getting that 'social media cred' which by the way is worth $zero. If consumers weren't so crazy to buy cars and houses the prices for them never would have gotten to the crazy heights they did and the consumers wouldn't be in so much debt. Consumers need to stop living beyond their means and stop trying to flex on social media. They need to realize that consumers have the power. "Refuse to buy and the prices won't get so high."
