It was fun to work on this project with you brother, great video
69
Last time I was this early Martin Luther hadn’t nailed his 95 theses yet
67
I hope you're going to be covering the entirety of Holy Roman History, because I'm having a blast learning this and reading the listed books.
65
It was a pleasure to contribute to the video!
61
Not what I expected, but surely what I needed.
61
Love this series. There are so many channels covering history on youtube from Mesopotamia to World War 2, but this is one of the only ones giving the Franks and the Holy Roman Empire the care they deserve. Cheers bud
60
Anyone who has a sincere interest in medieval history got to love Freddy 2.
60
This is, not only an excellent video, but is also really interesting. I'm a big fan of the HRE, and this video put a lot of that interest together.
58
You are without a doubt my favorite history YouTube channel!
58
Taking notes for my next CK3 campaign
57
I have no idea why you have twenty two thousand subscribers instead of two hundred and twenty two thousand but I’m overjoyed to have discovered your gem of a channel.
57
Hell yeah! So pumped to see Burgundy get the Empire Builders treatment :D
54
Frederick II, Stupor Mundi (Wonder of the World), showed a phenomenal example of how a Crusader should be. The 6th Crusade, that he was part of, was one of the few without blood shed and was able to accomplish it's goal: Jerusalem. Together with Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, he is my favourite Latin Monarch.
54
Hope this gets the same amount of success as ep 1 great channel wish you the best
54
I foresee a great channel with millions of subscribers.
53
I’ve thought about the Holy Roman Empire at least weekly for years.
53
As a ravenous YouTube history consumer, you’ve made a top notch video my guy. The algorithm has smiled upon you. You’ve got my sub, looking forward to the next episode.
52
I feel like I enjoyed this video more than I’ll enjoy Gladiator 2. Hopefully it’s okay
51
This is a fantastic channel! Hopefully it grows! As someone with a more modern interest, the British Empire and the United States, learning about this period is incredibly facilitating and you do a great job introducing it while also providing depth and detail. I appreciate the sited sources, a thing I think a lot of history channels seem to forget. Overall fantastic
51
It boggles my mind how underrated this channel is
50
Best HRE (and Frederick II) channel, BAR NONE. Magnificent series.
48
Duuuude i just beat Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 days ago. Your timing is impeccable. Thanks David for your incredible work. ✊
47
I'd like to note that Charibert I is sometimes believed to have a son named Charibert of Hesbaye, of which the Counts of Hesbaye descend through the male line. These Counts of Hesbaye are believed to be the agnatic ancestors of a Robert III, Count of Worms, who would be the agnatic great-grandfather of a man named Hugh Capet. Of course, this would make the Capetians another (tentative) branch of the Merovingians.
47
Just discovered the channel this week and already binged all the videos! Each video is of incredibly high quality and editing. They make driving so much better. Please keep making more.
47
Def best history channel on the rise
47
What a wonderful example of learning and educational communication. The Abacus and the Cross is a really fascinating read.
46
I'm not really a fan of most history youtubers so I can only really compare this channel's quality to Epic History TV and SandRhoman. You make putting this stuff out look easy, so it baffles me that with all of the effort going into content creation so few are making history stuff that is actually good.
46
Mate I wish you the best this channel is actual fire
46
thank god small historical youtube channels exist this is like music to my ears
45
No sopranos content in this one? Smh 😂
44
Absolutely fascinating and eye opening. I had absolutely no knowledge of the successors of Charlemagne much less Louis the Pious. They were all fascinating and incredible in their own ways. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of history of this niche era of Western and Central Europe. Great work as always man. The movie clips once again hitting harder than ever. I cannot wait for future uploads! 😁😁 - Bob.
44
I'm deaf, this is to the people who don't like the music. Turn off the volume and turn on closed captions. It's not a perfect solution, but it works. I would give anything to be able to hear music. Even crappy music. There's something you have to understand, this is real life and in real life, we don't always get what we want. Thanks for the video, it was splendid.
42
How you managed to become the best history channel on youtube so fast baffles me. Trust me, I follow a LOT of them.
42
I feel like they wanted to mix in a bit of Egalabus and create an amalgamation of Julia Domna's kids and grandkids. Basically the Entire Severan dynasty portrayed by the two brothers.
41
Only three Directors in this Era I would trust with a Nepoleon story for the Big Screen. 1-Christopher Nolan, 2-Denis Villenueve and 3-Sam Mendes.
41
This period definitely deserves more recognition, thanks for making this
40
I have been thoroughly enjoying your channel for quite a while now, and today I can actually afford to send you some love and chip in! The hinge-period that goes from 393 with the reign of Honorius, to 814 with the death of Charlemagne, is one of my absolute favorite period of Western history. Your videos are absolutely superb. Keep going, friend! Cheers! 🙏✌️
40
I was gonna drop in and merely give a thumbs up because it's nice to have the videos put into one, but seeing the extra work put in here made me listen to the newer bits again. Always appreciate the wonderful work you do for us here, we are truly spoiled.
40
Fascinating stuff. Love some Mesopotamian civilization history and your content always delivers
40
A rainy day, I'm sick and in bed. 2 hours of empire-builders? PLEASE
39
Empire Builders needs more subscribers this man makes my favorite history content
39
Got my bed time video sorted. Thanks Empire-Builders. Love from the UK, keep up the great work. Can’t wait for more videos from you. Also I loved your series on the Akkadian Empire, got me reading about it. Thanks for videos.
38
Just noticed that youtube hasn't recommended me your series on Akkad. Strange, I've got catching up to do.
37
The sound quality on this video is amazing! It’s so immersive with headphones I’ve never heard this type of video done with this kind of audio, I’m hooked!
36
Another banger and again one of those puzzle pieces not often given center stage. Cant wait for the other parts!
35
Though I have already read Dio, Herodian, and the Historia Augusta on Caracalla, I can tell you I really enjoyed this vid. Thanks again for all your works, you're so underrated
35
You single handedly made Louis the pious one of my favorite rulers in history.
34
Nice. I remember when I saw this weird SO shaming trend and I had to show it to my wife. Turns out she didn't even realize how often she thought about ancient Rome. Now she occassionally tells me how she thought about Ancient Rome on days she does
34
I hope you continue this series and come to its conclusion! The HRE is often overlooked in history and I would love to learn more!
34
your use of sources and the accuracy of this entire vid is soooo refreshing, thanku!!
