Love the intro and humor in an otherwise dry and serious topic. This vid was very informative, easy to understand and brought a smile to my face :) thank you for sharing your knowledge instead of hoarding it!

Great information as usual, Branigan This video( numbers 1-3) is exactly how it played out in my situation with my former Fortune 100 employer I watched these videos and hired a lawyer fairly early on as I could see the writing on the wall. I went as far as to record conversations as I live in a one party consent state. I was so tired of the back and forth each week with managers and HR representatives that I admitted that I recorded conversations and quoted word for work what my manager had said to me I had about 100 emails that I had saved as well. My employer had a 90 day email deletion policy and I had been forwarding emails to my personal email address for about a year In any case about a week after I told them I recorded conversations I was terminated. We filed a lawsuit, went through a deposition and they paid me a settlement and they covered all my legal fees and court costs I wonder if because my former employer participated in government contracts if that arbitration portion was off the table

I'm not exactly sure how to thank you for simplifying all the information for me. you have seriously changed my life and made me realize that I have rights I thought i had but didn't know for sure. Thank you, on behalf of all the women whom I will educate thanks to your education. THANK YOU!!!!!

I feel very educated thank you

More hostile work environment videos!!

I really like how you don't edit out your gaffes in your lectures. It avoids a bunch of cuts that distract from what you're explaining. And you have so much content packed into each video you can't afford to be distracted. I only recently found your channel. Being an employee in California it's been so insightful and has really helped clarify a lot of misconceptions for me. Thank you, Mr. Robinson. Since I don't need your services right now do you have a PayPal, Patreon, Venmo, etc. I can contribute to?

This was so great! As a paralegal student, it really clarifies and explains how an employment discrimination lawsuit would really play out. Thanks!

Thank you for making this video! Great information for those who may be having difficulties figuring out what leave is available.

You have a great stage presence

The absolute truth. HR works for the interests of the company and benefits from the massive ignorance of the employees. I’ve been a field service technician for the last 12 years so we don’t really deal with HR but I remember.
20
Great video. I’ve seen both good and bad HR. Good HR knows that protecting the company means eliminating potential liabilities like toxic and discriminatory bosses!
20
I've been working for 25 years. I've never trusted the "open door policy". Good video.

Thank you sir, I followed exact procedures and made nothing personal; "everything's for the benefit of the company and or team." AND IT WORKED OUT PERFECTLY! I kept my composure, brought a genuine typed note of events and was able to add beneficial info to the company while handling the issue. Thank you again. 🗣️ DO EXACTLY AS HE SAYS! 🤜🏾🤛🏻 💯

What about when the company hires a law firm to conduct an ("independent") investigation into a complaint? My assumption is that companies do this for the appearance of taking the issue seriously, but the lawyer appointed to investigate is basically doing the same thing as an HR investigator would be doing, and for the same reasons. I.e., the lawyer is not there to help you or to be neutral, they're there to protect the company that hired them. Is there anything else happening, though? Why does the company spend the money?

Love the ending that stresses sometimes HR is made of good people with bad incentives. My company has ONE HR guy that does what he can to actually be on the employees side, because he was one of us. Had a problem with an aggressive coworker (I’m a guy, she was a girl who thought she was a guy). I asked him who I should talk to, he explained how HR works and that I should try to deal with it as best I could. Sounds like shit advice, until she got fired for completely other reasons a few months later and HR is none the wiser on anything I would’ve said. Good HR man

Thank you for posting this your advice is so good and I will be saving notes of strange and unethical incidences going on at my workplace it looks like these cases can go on for a long time before any action is taken if any

You are an amazing attorney and tutor. I wished you were in my country.
17
Thanks so educational ! You have helped me more than you could ever know. Thank you 😊 I will continue to watch and learn from your videos !
17
Yes! Please make the video regarding arbitration! Need to be informed as much as possible so I can avoid any of these HR traps. Oh! And thank you for your time and for putting out this info that is much needed.
16
I would love to see a video on being misclassified as an independent contractor when you were really an employee!
16
HR departments try to disguise themselves as some sort of Union to help employees however their main purpose and objective is to serve the company above anything else…. Don’t be fooled by the corporate tactics…. Be smart and play their game wisely 😎

Thank you so much for these videos. They are so incredibly helpful and easy to understand.

This video is definitely facts. I've run into almost everything mentioned in the video except legal stuff. I had a friend report that I was doing 100s of hours of free overtime work. The HR lady launched an investigation, immediately telling my manager. After that, we had to spend time finding evidence of my free over time. We made an excel sheet outlining over 100 free hours worked for just the current year with the expectation of being reimbursed. A week later after submitting the excel sheet, all I hear back is "too bad so sad". She said there was no badge checkouts nor any real evidence to show that I worked. Emails sent after hours? That only proves you sent an email, not that you worked. So after doing more free overtime to just fill out the excel sheet, I get nothing. The sad thing is I have multiple stories like this all for the same company. Many lies about supposedly anonymous surveys where they went and told management who and what was said about them. I wish I was smart enough or had the energy to deal with getting a lawyer at the time. It's too late for me. I'm now struggling with health issues from too much work and had to quit the job.

Mr. R the detail you put in your videos is so informative, please keep them coming.

I have very well documented case with all exhibits. I am making the same salary that you mentioned:). It’s 100% retaliation case without rebuttal. Incredible Video

Thanks for filming this video. As an HR Coordinator, I thoroughly enjoyed this video. A lot of what you said resonated with me based on my work experiences, prior to being HR. Now, in a group of 11 HR reps I am 1 of the 3 reps who has a hand in Employee Relations. I have refused and continue to refuse to treat my employees unfairly and/ or devalue their concerns. Your videos are great for people like me who want to keep ourselves in check. Unfortunately some HR folks are so corrupt there is no changing them…that’s the sad part. I’ve subscribed and look forward to all future videos!
14
HOLY COW, YOUR BACK... YES! Dude I thought you went MIA and was pretty sad but I'm glad to see you back making content
14
Love the energy and info of this video!
13
Outstanding video. I had a tbi from a work-related collision. It took me a while to get back up and running again and dealt with a ton of discrimination during this process. That discrimination often sticks even after you've healed. CYA.
13
TRUE; what HR knows is following up with accounting regarding the severance payment. Good luck!
13
I think at ”will employment” means no binding conditions stopping someone from quitting whenever and an employer can terminate the employee at anytime as long as two weeks notice given. Excluding discrimination or other protected instances under the law.
13
So grateful I stumbled on to your You Tube Page! Prior to watching your recommendations, I did everything wrong in all of my documenting harassment and bullying at work. Lesson learned. 😒
13
Branigan - terrific video, greatly appreciated. All employees should have benefit of this advice thus entering any employment situation with open eyes. The knowledge of how to react/respond to a disciplinary matter is crucial.
12
This is so helpful, So appreciated!

Oh my goodness. I actually experienced Trick #-Arbitration during the job application process. I remember reading the form and feeling turned off. I now realize the company must have been so bad that they needed potential employees to sign it right away! I’m guilty of signing all the forms after a job offer and not questioning anything🤷🏾♀️ A girl’s gotta eat, Lol! Thanks for the informative video. I’m a new subscriber!

Let me tell you there's nothing HR is more allergic to than an employee who is disabled and is very well learned about every facet of reasonable accommodations and who leaves a nice email trail that is sent to everyone after EVERY single meeting recapping what everyone has said. But when they get petty, such strategies are necessary to keep that paycheck alive. All of us disabled people need to be treated with the respect we deserve.
12
Thank you so much for making this i love your videos ive been looking up info on this for few months this video just fell in my lap
12
I have never trusted HR my entire career of 50 years
11
20 years ago i had a bad pregnancy and got very sick when i miscarried, i was never told about FMLA or leave, now as a manger i advocate FMLA for my employees.
11
This video is 100% accurate! I had a misconception about HR, until I started working in HR.
11
My bosses wanted me to use my nose as a chlorine gas detector instead of buying a $300 chlorine gas detector. We had a history at our water treatment facilities of chlorine gas leaks and employees being gagged out of the building. They did end up buying a detector, but I have been treated very differently since bringing this up in the safety committee meetings. I believe i was retaliated against. They made me do sewer work instead of going to the drinking water plant while I was upgraded to the water plant pay (normally at the plant for this). Since then I have brought up.other safety issues and have been warned not to send these issues out via our department "Team" text - these were warning text messages for the safety of the crew. I have a target on my back now and it feels like I am considered the problem child of the department. I do document, and report. Your videos are very helpful. Thank you.
11
Super helpful!! Thank you!! Perfect timing for me. Serendipity 🙏🏼
11
Your videos saved my job! I follow the recommendation in another video of complaining in written, employer retaliated against me, I complained to Governmental Agencies, my employer and me negotiated a deal and I have been working almost 5 months after that, let's see if they ever going to terminate me :)! thank you so much!
11
Great video. I’m glad I was young when I learned that HR was not on my side. I’ve not had employment or HR issues in years. Thankfully.
11
You're the man. I am currently dealing with a case and when I was losing my mind and depressed last November, I watched your videos and it helped me to organize things and know my rights. I'm currently going to district court over backpay for UI and I am going to file in federal court before December, got my eeoc right to use letter mid September. Thank you so much for the helpful information and the encouragement and direction!

Your videos are so very good, concise and packed with necessary details. Thank you!

Long ago at my last job I was told how it is by someone in management: HR is here to protect the company, not the worker.
10
