Had NATO heeded Putin's repeated advise and pleas to not keep deploying nuclear capable missiles closer to the Russian borders as he has been doing since the Munich conference of 2005 or had Germany, France and Ukraine not breached the Minsk Accord then Russia would not have deployed its troops. Then there is the little side note that you blatantly ignore: the 8 year long shelling of the civilian population of the Dombas, most if not all Russian speakers.
