  13. My mother & father were the best parents any kid could have. They had four children of which I am the youngest. Momma always cooked dinner every night for us. Dad always made sure things were fair, no favoritism. When he gave one kid $20, the other three got $20. I owe my life to my parents. That's why in 2010 I had been driving a semi on the road since 1993 and was always gone weeks or months at a time. When I heard that the doctor told Mom not to lift anything because her back was bad, I quit driving and moved in with them so they could live out their lives in their own home which they had paid for. My other three siblings were not going to do this and I seem to be the only one who remembered how great Mom and Dad was when we were kids. Before I started driving a semi, I drove a city delivery truck, delivering meat to different places. Of which one of them was a nursing home. I delivered there once a week and every time I went there, there were people that came out of their rooms to want to talk with me but I had many stops after their stop and time was short. This was heartbreaking to me as I knew that their families didn't come to see them like they should. I had to quit that job because I couldn't stand it. I asked my boss for a different route and told him why but he wouldn't give me any other routes to run, so I quit. That experience opened my eyes to retirement homes and that's why I gave up my career to see that mom and dad would never have to go there. From 2010 to 2017 I helped them doing domestic chores and other various stuff. Dad lived to be 94 and Mom was 87 when she left this earth. I couldn't get back into driving a semi all they all said I had been gone too long and none of my previous companies would hire me. I was forced to take early retirement and I'm disabled now, living here in their house barely being able to pay the utilities each month with only SS to live on. But you know what? I would go back in time and do it all over again, for them. My parents who I owed my life to. I still miss them.
