This is the "curse of success" that many "Western"-style nations, as your quality of life increases, the more time it takes to achieve and the more difficult it becomes to maintain and improve upon. At a certain point, it becomes too expensive and time consuming to have kids without sacrificing a large part of one's work, income, and education all of which are inter-related. Only the very rich can afford to have many children and live like poor people of old.

  2. Very timely video Nobita-san!! Wow... I was hired last year by a Japanese Tech company as IT engr. and I am now on the process of studying and learning Nihongo. The required level is N2 and I know that it may take quite a while before I reach that. This video is very informative in terms of giving insight into the IT industry in Japan.   3. Chris Broad is ultimately one of the main reasons I've been preparing myself to move to Japan. As a foreigner, he shows so much beauty in the country that others just don't expose. His honesty about both the good and bad parts of living in Japan are admirable too. He's a role model for foreigners who know him and honestly want to move to Japan.

  7. This video struck me, I was diagnosed with coats disease when I was 3. I was blind in my left eye as long as I could remember, when I was around 15-16 my left eye started deteriorating and slowly losing volume, I eventually had it removed at age 17 and have had a prosthetic eye ever since. Watching this made me grateful, I've only had a couple of dirty looks and only about 3 or 4 rude comments in regards to my eye in my entire life. Sometimes I will catch people slightly startled by my appearance but only briefly and they treat me normally afterwards. Really only eye doctors ask me and even then sometimes I have to go out of my way to tell them it's a prosthetic. In school nearly everyone treated me with the same respect as my eye got worse and after I had it removed. Maybe it's southern california or maybe just the community I lived in, but I'm glad I was surrounded by people who seem to be of a higher caliber then the ones this person was.

  11. Great video. I really want to encourage her. She is a worthful person with and without doing anything. And if she found a job she liked, she istold she is good in and even can make a living off, it is great. And I think a good work enviroment is so much more important as the view of this, cause these are the people you often see and talk to. And it is quite bias. Watching porn as a man is okay, but doing it as a woman is seen kind of immoral. But how would you produce porn without the actresses?! Well, good luck for her!

  12. The problem also resides in the culture of the Japanese. The rigidness in "following the rules" and there being little to no deviation from what has been established. Japan focuses more on the community, then on the individual. When you combine these two things, you get Hikikomori. You know what might help people with this condition? How about recreational pharmaceuticals? I'd recommend Ecstasy, as it has been known to help people with depression, and drop their inhibitions to gain confidence and "feel" good at the same time. But I doubt this route would be taken, because drug use is frowned upon and rightfully so in most cases (crack/cocaine/meth comes to mind) as it destroy lives; not making them better. In closing, you need to change Japanese society and the mentality of "go along, to get along." If you don't, then you'll soon reach 90/10.

  13. Great video! I will say I strongly disagree that as long as it’s not illegal or a disturbance, then it’s ok for foreigners to act however they want. There are many great things about Japanese society, and a lot of it is built off of hard work and habits of Japanese people. Whilst of course outsiders will likely never truly reach the level where they are both contributing and being seen as a Japanese person, I think not respecting the effort that people around you are putting in, and simply benefiting from their efforts selfishly is bad. I don’t expect myself or any other outsider living in Japan to match the culture entirely or perfectly conform, but I do think it’s important to make efforts to understand and respect cultural norms. Especially if living for a prolonged period of time. We of course have differences in how we want to act, but it shouldn’t be done carelessly.

  14. I think the issue here is, to quote what the lady (Hiroko-san) said: it's about conformity. The unique form of harmony that Japanese society has. Like the saying goes "the nail that sticks gets the hammer". Same principle with the added bonus of the Kawaii mentality that is expected of women. Like you put in the video "It's rude to go out without makeup". Add to that the Japanese cultural aversion to expressing emotion in public, and the psychological effect is compounded into what you see. I think that the real issue is that Japanese society views wearing makeup as another form of hiding your true self and true emotions, which admittedly is quiet understandable given how Japanese society works, rather than the Western approach of enhancing what women have. Both are issue in themselves with both negative and positive impacts in the mental health of the individual, but for different reasons and with different outcomes. Still, nothing better that au-natural. More honest, more real. Great video as always, Nobita-san. Thank you for sharing with us.

Its not just cost of living, but the fact that a woman in Japan can just refuse (legally) to let the father see his kids (no shared custody in Japan) is a big factor, especially for foreign men. With the divorce rate at 35% and even higher for international marriages, the risk that you might never see your kids again is a real issue.

  24. First of all, I'd like to congratulate Nobita on this amazing video and interview. Your channel is great and very informative. Second of all, I want to state the obvious and say that I don't know her full story, and as such, cannot really comprehend how she has felt/feels. But one thing I'm gonna say is that I hope she realizes that the happiness she feels right now seems like a very shallow one. The people she is happy to serve as "fap material" only see her as an object to please themselves, and one that can be replaced, as that. I do not intend to downplay her happiness or criticize and judge her; at the end of the day she is free to do whatever she wants. But still, she looks like she is a very nice person, and I hope she finds a job thats accepts her for who she really is and doesn't eventually brush her off bc of aging, and surrounds herself with people and coworkers who can look past the walls that contain her soul (her most important element) I may sound like a simp but these are my 2 cents. (English is not my first language so sorry for any mistakes. )

  33. To be honest I had the typical story of that popular movie The Karate Kid in the US. I ended up doing martial arts because I was angry, but over time it kind of helped build confidence. I often recommend training not because it's just to defend yourself, but to have a stoic attitude of constantly being a rival to your old self instead of others.

  35. I don't think Chris is given enough recognition. He definitely should be given some kind of award by the Japanese government for what he has done in these 10 years to promote the country. He has basically promoted every single prefecture in Japan, helped local attractions gain more visitors, helped local people, etc. I just wanna mention, and this is smth that Chris has said as well, that he also finds it hard to connect with Japanese people. He has Japanese friends, but both of them are either non-conformist (like Natsuki) or lived in the west for a long time (like Ryotaro). He's also quite insecure about his Japanese language skills as well, since he doesn't practice consistently like he used to. But yeah, I wish more and more people give recognition to him, because he really is an example for every expat who wants to move to Japan.

  45. nobita hearing from both sides of the spectrum is a nice thing. alot of people try to make content only on making porn look bad or look good. the thing that everyone need to accept is that pornstars or people working in the porn industry are still people. yes i dont agree with porn and i think it does more harm to peoples lives than do good, but does that mean that we should look down on the people that do it? absolutely NOT. thats what i want to learn from these videos that nobita makes. im not only talking about japans porn indusrty im talking about porn industries in every contries and all the sex workers. to be honest in my opinion sexual content usually make people addicted and the type of people that are not addicted are less than the other. and porn is affecting millions of lives and destroying thousands of relationships. some people say that we should make this a norm. some do make it normal for themselves and even consume porn with their partners. but just be honest with yourselves can you really make everybody be OK with their partners watching other women and men have sex? no we cannot and it will never happen. people who are addicted to porn cannof control themselves and you seriously cannot ask them to be open about it and seek help easily. thats just not how addiction works. when your addicted your mad about tha lack of control you have on yourself when your addicted the lack of of control bothers you and makes you overthink and as i result corrupts your everyday life and relationships with your parents and friends. some people just accept it when their single and just relax about it. but the true porblem apears when they go into a relationship with their beloved partner and they realize they cant have sex for more than 30 seconds! what do you think happens?? his back to the beggining with a messed up sexual life and messed up love life. in my opinion pornstarts just dont think about these things and even if they do they just wont bother themselves with it and just move on. i think the main problem with that is just they dont realize how severly their job is effecting millions of life and a lot of people simply dont know about it because NO ONE fucking talks about!! every where on the internet is pro porn and pro sex the anti porn population on the internet is very small. i dare you to open an instagram post of your favorite porn star and see their comments. just keep scrolling until you find a comment thats saying something remotely negative to that pornstar. they are either removing the bad comments or just not one is commenting any negative thing. when your a pornstar and literaly everyone around you and on the internet is praising you what would you do?? would you stop? i mean as you saw clearly in this video their work is not easy and in japan they are not getting paid but in his head its "just a job" if you feel good about your job then why would you stop?? that is why i said that we should not go and bully the actors because yes they are the ones we see but they are not necessarily the ones doing it. i really wish sexualizing everything would just stop. DUDE some people may think i hate sex!!!! dude im a human just like you i absolutely love sex. but their is a fucking limit to everything we are realling overdoing it. specially in japan its really bothering me to see all these wholesome people with wholesom hearts destroy lives without even knowing!!!

  46. As with so many of Nobitas videos, at the very base this is a social problem and there's much resistance to solving this problem because of how Japanese society/culture is structured. Purely from my personal experience, I've never paid for sex, but I have had one nighters and though they feel nice, nut the best sex is when the girl really but really wants you. You be the prize, let her ask you out, let her confess to you, let her pay/make dinner for you. This is something a lot of guys will never have btw. How do you get to this point? Be the best man you can be, work on yourself to keep improving your mind & body. Basically work on your body to look your best & find a well paying job that you enjoy doing and girls will flock to you. Let the girls chase after you. I can't imagine the girls enjoying this sex or they don't realize there's a better version of the same concept. Let's face it, most of these girls don't want to fuck these guys and it's just a performance for them. It may still feel nice, but it's not as nice as the real deal. It's just not the same as Sex with somebody you love and have good chemistry with, somebody that has proven over the years you can trust and has your back, this just so rare and that's why it's so precious. Sooner or later they'll start to realize what they're missing in their life => genuine love. When they finally realize this, that's when depression hits. As for husbands/boyfriends not enjoying sex with their wives/girlfriends, that's just basic biology telling them: you're not compatible. Either talk it out and try to fix it, but in many cases just break up, you're not biologically compatible and you need to accept this fact.
