  6. The more non-builds I see the more I prefer them to all the expensive elaborate builds that become way too complicated and time consuming to create. This one is particularly attractive due to the sentimental value. I can relate. I lost my darling wife a year ago and some day, I will set out on my “old guy” travels.

Maybe you couldn't find the words in the moment, but I can now: What an absolutely, incredibly amazing build by a brilliant engineer, Pascal 😃 I don't see how this build can possibly be beat for the lowest possible price. Pascal is so inspirational. I can imagine someone starting out van life without a budget for a build or carpentry skills and see this design and be completely inspired to have a nice T.H.O.W. that they can easily build themselves on any budget - even with all recycled materials for free. I am so excited about this build. Thank you for sharing it ❤

  17. Wow. What a great place and a great guy. Those rates are incredibly affordable. I was blown away by the $450/month for the first unit. Mobile Home lot rents in Florida are going up and many exceed the $450 just for a lot. Much success to Devyn in his future. He deserves it.

I am sure your mother said to you "charity begins in the home". Nice video and you are far from heartless, nice lady.

  19. I used to live next to a Washington state park & found out felons, sex offenders & other nefarious people were let out of prison w/no home, so they go to campgrounds. One day I called for a bus & it stopped at the park & picked up 3 men who were on meth, they were amped up talking about how they went thru the campgrounds taking baseball bat's to tents. One other time I was walking w/my 11 yr old granddaughter & a LG prison type bulky guy approached us, she said I'm gonna let u handle this gramma, but I also had enhanced security. After we got home I checked sex offenders registry & he was on it, living a block from the park. I would see him hitchhiking into town to buy a case of beer a day & then hitchhiker back home. And I was also told criminals take vacations too. I needed to say this out loud.

  20. My story is similar although the financial limitations of being on disability is forcing me to sell my mobile home because of skyrocketing lot rent. I already live in AZ and got an extra long Econoline van which I am converting along the way. I have lived in it since December while my roommate made other arrangements so I can put it on the market. With the knowledge of what I actually need I am looking forward to cutting the cord to sticks and bricks.

  21. At the beginning of your video my first thought was about how our so called leaders care more about illegal immigrants than they do about the elderly, so thank you for mentioning that. It's odd that most of our (elite) leaders are elderly themselves yet have no empathy for their fellow Americans in their same age group. We need to take care of our own before we can help others, IMO.

  26. I’m 53 and my own father speaks down to me worse than he speaks to complete strangers, all because I’m not wealthy and I live in my truck. Money and success are his only criteria for whether he will respect someone or not. Contrast this to the respectful manner in which he speaks to my PhD, millionaire sister. I cut him out of my life this past April and I couldn’t be happier. This is a great video. There’s no shame in doing the best you can with what you have. Hang in there everyone!

  27. Something like thus happened to me at a Hilton time share transaction. We finalized papers and as we were leaving the large room where everyone was making their transactions, my husband happened to glance at the paperwork of others and noticed they ALL were charged half of what we were. So we went back to the room and discussed how we were going to proceed because we couldn't prove what others were charged. I knew that transactions like this have a 3 day right of recision. I looked for this form and it was not in the packet. I thought I saw it earlier. The next morning we went back there and spoke to the manager. I told him we had to handle this quickly because I was meeting with my lawyer in one hour. They claim that no such paperwork regarding cancelation existed. I said I knew it was part of legal transactions and I want it, and am canceling the contract. After some back and forth including the sales persons calling me on the phone, she ended up hanging up on me. Then they rudely produced the document and reluctantly signed it. What ever their reasoning for doing this in the first place, I can only say there was not another person in the room of my kind of appearance. So thanks for telling your story. You handled it well and if this happens to someone else they need to remain calm and carry on.

  29. It’s really “shamefully sad,” that there’s females who behave this way. And, I found that males are the same too. At 60 years of age, I’ve come across a plethora of DIFFERENT kinds of human beings and have experienced both the positive and the negative sides of their behavior in my encounters with them. And, like you’ve said, “I AVOID them like the plague! Because no good can come from it!” We’ve gotta be keenly aware of our surroundings when in public and in our workplace. Because these types of people are on the prowl to see who they can pick on, and get away with it. I’ve had to weed out some folks in my life through the years, including some family members in order to maintain my peace of mind and happiness. Aloha from Hawaii!🤙🏽

  31. When I was 65 ten years ago I had both knees replaced. Then eight years ago I had both shoulders replaced. I had no one at home to help me after surgery. I made sure the doctor kept me in the hospital 3 days so I qualified to go to a rehap facility (nursing home). Medicare will pay for 21 days then my supplement insurance paid for a number of days. While there I received rehap 5 days of 7 of the week. Which required no travel time for me. Yes the raise I received on social security gets eaten up by increases by Medicare, supplement health, house insurance and various other expenses. I go without a/c. It's depressing.   36. I completely agree with you. I myself have been there. I am now permanently disabled. You would not believe what I had to go through to get help. I have seen other videos of very sick van dwellers and my heart and prayers go out to them. There should be programs to help these folks.

  41. When society was more agriculture with a family farm, children often built a home or installed a mobile home on the family property. Family elders always had a home an family looked after them as they aged. We've lost that way of life for the most part. I also remember, when I was young, that city families would have a large townhouse, maybe 3 stories and a basement and extended families lived together and people had their own space. We've lost that way of life.

  43. I am actually not making major dollars, at least not what I consider major dollars. Your income on YouTube is based on your views not your subscriber count. In order to make money on views you have to make lots of videos for Adsense income and have sponsorships contracts. Some YouTubers post one or more videos EVERY day. I posted 5 videos this entire month! Also, in order to make serious money you really need sponsorship contracts. Although I have literally hundreds of companies approaching me every month I am very particular about what companies I want to be a spokesperson for. I have only accepted one free product and I only did that for the product to possibly give it to someone, not for pay. I have a special needs daughter who requires a great deal of my time and I have some serious health issues. Those are my priorities at oresent. Eventually, I could make a great deal of money on YouTube and other ventures if I chose to. At this time I choose to go at my own slow pace with my priorities as noted as well as building a small tiny village pocket community for low income seniors and orhers who can no longer afford rent

  48. Your situation is terrible. I have a neighbor in same situation. She’s a former nurse looking to get on disability. To make matters worse, she lost her spouse suddenly. He was their only household income. No savings, life insurance, old car. She had to leave her belongings behind. We have money to help outside the US but not our own people.

  49. I had a stroke, ended up in a nursing home. I had a car pmt and didn't want to lose my car. I went back to work as soon as I left. Lived in my car for about 6 months. My children knew but they didn't care. Im okay now, I bought a camper, something I can afford, 200 bucks is better then 1,500. I parked beside my sister. Im tired of living this way. I long for a toilet I can flush and not extreme heat or cold. I gave my last penny to my children, it was their inheritance. I rather have nothing then feel guilty I didn't do enough for my family. No more guilt, I'm broke, bye see wouldn't want to be ya! 😊

  50. I am a truck driver & this is exactly why I drive overnight! There are some places (in and around bigger cities) that charge for parking so alot of us try to avoid those, even if it means parking along the street. We definitely get creative when it comes to parking 😂
