  1. I never got out of my parents home until I was able to buy my own house, when I was 39 years old. Only after that I got out and got married. If I was never able to buy a house, I would live with my parents until I died, and I think it's the best strategy for everyone. Don't go out and pay rent, every saving you could have will go through the drain as rent.

  2. My advice to anyone starting out in the working world: invest 10% or more of your gross income. No matter what. If you invest at least 10% you will put yourself in a better position to be financially well off. Thanks for the video!

  3. Thank you for sharing your story. I had nothing until I was about 40 years old. I'm now 63, I've got a house (paid for) a wonderful wife, a son and a job that pays about enough. You've got plenty of time. Good Luck

  4. At 32, in California 2008, I had nothing. I taught English in Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan. By 2023, had a wife, built a beachfront house in Vietnam, and still save. Look globally for best resources and opportunities for yourself.

  5. Hi, I can relate with what you are going through. I'm 27 brazilian, and I'm still in University. I'm trying to get a Philosophy Degree which is not very prestigious anywhere, but I couldn't fell more fulfilled and happy. I started a small company where I sell used books to the local students in my Uni, and bussiness has been great. Finally I'm getting enough money to afford my own place It's never too late to start fresh new and come up with an idea that fullfills you mentally and financialy.   9. I have listened to your story. Am 39 years. I make what you call minimum wage in your country. Bt being in third world developing country it's actually a pretty good pay . One thing I wish most young people learn early is not to get into lifestyle debt. Live a lifestyle that matches your income. Live within your means. I have not heard you say you made any bad decisions. I wish you all the best .

  10. I don't know why, but this video is so calming to watch (listen to). It's so hard to talk this openly about one's life, and in addition to the perspective we are gaining from it as viewers, I believe there's something more intangible I'm getting from it that I can't put into words. A small bit of hope, mixed in with a hefty dose of melancholy. This was very cathartic to watch. Thank you so much for putting it out there. I genuinely wish you have a happy life, and that all of us figure things out together, in bits and pieces. There are choppy seas and dark clouds ahead. But the sun must still be there waiting for us.

The world can be such a dark place but just remember there are still people and opportunities out there that will help you build yourself back. Thank you so much for sharing your story to the world and I think more people should. I recently quit my job too with no backup but thankfully I have some savings to survive on. But I have no idea what i'm gonna do as well. The world is so different today. All the best and I will be sure to follow along on your journey.

  17. Oh man - I felt every. single. word. in this video. Thank you for making such an honest video diary, Sue. First of all, your English is terrific👏👏👏 Secondly, don't be embarrassed about your situation; it's not unique. I'm 39, went to college, got a job and worked my way into Digital Marketing just like you. I've been laid off 3 times, had to live with roommate in order to try and build up my savings, and now I'm living in my parents house trying to get out and get my independence back. It used to be easy to buy your first starter house. Now, everyone is moving back in with their parents. I see so many people doing the same thing. Only now am I learning about investing. Inflation is getting worse, jobs are not hiring ( I know someone who has been looking for a job for a year.) All the economies are failing. I feel like we're all in the same place. So don't be embarrassed. You'll get back your independence and we're very lucky to have our parents help. All we can do is keep trying. The universe must reward this effort. And yes, employers can be very vile.

"Love Bombing: In the initial phase, the narcissist idealizes the other person, showering them with attention and affection. This creates an illusion of deep affection and connection. Devaluation: Once the target is fully invested, the narcissist begins to minimize and discard them." I think you're very lucky you didn't get caught in the final devaluation phase.   25. Many cars in the USA are 30,000 and up. Many buy used because of this even my car is 12 years old. Apartments depends on the state you are in are in my case in my area 1200 (for an ok place in an ok area) but mostly higher, then car insurance, health insurance and other bills. It is almost impossible to live. I am always on the edge of homelessness and eat very basic foods now. Prices are crazy.

  30. Man, I’ve been saying this for a while, “I have worked for __ years and I have nothing to show for it.” So true. It sucks having no ability to get out of where you are at economically. I tried school-ran out of money. Tried church music-change in belief+doesn’t pay. Now I’m stuck working poor paying medical jobs.

Thanks for taking the time to explain us your experience in this type of job that you had. Also, It was a bit disappointing that you don't gain as much money as you deserve. I think It's beacuse this is an unknown job so people think It's easy to do it. Unfortunately, It is an unknown job in my country(I'm from Peru) too. By the way, I wanna know about your country. The only thing that I know about Turkey are soup operas. Those were really popular in my country 4 years ago.

That Syria or Ukraine have a lot of problems is understandable given their wars, but those countries that financially shoot themselves in the foot like Argentina and Turkey among others are so difficult to understand.

  35. I love your stories. My mom was the first to wear the hijab/ Jilbaab in her family. Only married women used to cover their hair in Somalia back then. Her mother discouraged her by saying that she was too young ( she was a preteen). People used to be culturally Muslim but not religious. My mom is the one discouraging me from taking off the hijab. It’s like history goes through cycles. I wear the hijab to not break her heart and because am not really confrontative. I wish I could live life the way I choose and still have my family’s support. Unfortunately, I have to choose one and I choose me. I’ll be taking it off once I move out. I live in the west thankfully.

  37. I'm a 32 year old Muslim girl and in my family hijab isn't practiced. We're not even that religious. I'm the only religious one in the family and at one point I wanted to start hijab, as I already do all the other islamic practices. But eventually, I had the same feeling, that I don't want to represent the religion in my clothing. I want to see myself as human before any religion. After my father passed away three years ago, my mother became very overtly religious due to some relatives around her. They have been telling her negative things about me being 32 and single. It's been very painful, as it's affecting me and my mother. This experience has made me distant from organised religion. I don't know what to do next, as I do still believe in God, but am traumatised by religion.

  40. I understand your struggles, and I've only been working for 2 years. Had to quit working recently due to unexplained health issues, and now It seems even more impossible, especially since I want to move to a different country that will fit be better. But that's so much money! Need to work from home but don't have the experience, so it seems like youtube might be one of the only options, besides selling some crochet stuff. Although, that also is affected by my health issues. I will try to watch your videos often on my various different accounts, and maybe it will help boost the watch hours for your channel. Hang in there, it will all be okay!

  42. It’s not easy to stick to a job that you’re done with when you have ADHD. Be easy on yourself. I also have the same longing towards financial freedom. Not necessarily to live a lavish lifestyle but to be free from this work bs. I’d love to work on my terms and flourish.

  44. For just starting out (with regular uploads) and very few subscribers (but growing quickly), you're doing great. Pace yourself. It's a marathon. As you gain subscribers, your watch hours and ad revenue will grow steadily. Don't be discouraged.

  46. Omg, I think we are twins! I had a very similar experience when I was younger, & while I loved my former apartment, I really could not afford it. And yes, as a result, that experience ruined my credit. But like you, it really doesn’t bother me because now no one will give me credit cards! LOL The only down side is that I have to stay where I currently live (which I absolutely hate) because no one will rent to me anymore, so I’m stuck (but grateful to have a place otherwise I would be homeless).   49. I worked my 1st real job 16 years ago at 26 and I always invested 20% of my take home pay.... I dropped out of college and ar 43 years old I am financially independent and can replace 100% of my jobs income with my investments. From grinding for 17 years, I knew early that I wanted to GET OUT OF THE RAT RACE... I don't care about splurging to "impress" anyone with stuff... having FU level of savings has dramatically lowered stress too.

"Making a living" is so contingent on the good will of others and our participation in the Social Contract. Yes, there is a lot of manipulation and deception. The ability to make a sustainable living varies over time and history. The fact that we are all living in this time and place means we should share our experience. I see YouTube as the world's Think Tank, and I believe it will create a new concept of life. I'm glad it is supporting you, Sue.
