  4. on the subject of Chales XI one shouldn't overlook that he completed a massive military reform that created the Swedish allotment system (Swedish: indelningsverket) a system that allowed for Sweden to have a professional army that was economically maintained in peacetime. The Allotment system that supplied the troops for the so called "Carolean Army" is one of the main reasons as to why sweden held out in the Great Northern War for 21 years, instead of the war just being a short invasion and rape of Sweden. The allotment system didn't only create a professional army for sweden, it also enabeled the swedish army to be roughly twice the size per capita of comparative european armies at the time, as well as being able to assemble and stand ready to march in about half the time as comparative european armies at the time.

  5. My great-uncle died along with many others on those beaches. Like so many other pictures, his photo in uniform show a young man, boy, of 18 years old, wet behind the ears yet. They all followed orders to take the beaches and they took the beaches and more with the toll of friends, comrades and at times family. Those that survived, never forgot those left behind. And those so few left that remember will soon just be a memory themselves. Let history never forget ANY of these men who fought, but remember today the ones who stormed the beaches at Normandy.

  9. There's a major error at 10:41, there weren't any Peshmergas in southern Iraq, that region is Shia majority (same as Iran). The Peshmergas were in the North were the Kurdish population are and that region is mountainous. Also, kind of overlooked how much the Iraqi army was using chemical weapons in the war, even against civilians, especially the Kurds such as in Halabja

Some more things about German uniforms: -The Bavarian helmet is called a Raupenhelm -The Bavarian shown in the video is in the 8th Infantry Regiment, Shown by Yellow Cuffs and Collar, plus gold buttons. The Colour worn by most Infantry regiments was Red, With the Grenadier-Garde Regiment, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th Infantry Regiments having a shade of red as their Identification colours. -The Colour Trim on the Slouch hat for Schutztruppe changed depending on the colony, Blue for South west Africa, White for East Africa and Red for Togo. -Corduroy Uniforms were very rare to see outside of South West Africa, the main uniform in East Africa and in Togo were more similar to the East Asian uniforms with Blue piping around edges. -The Grey Schutztruppe uniform was the Home uniform, The uniform the Schutztruppe wore while back in Germany. -The Bavarians got their own special variation of the M15 Tunic, with a Field Gray collar and Bavarian flag ribbon around the edge. -Pickelhaubes had different markings depending on the state you were from. -The Reichswehr tunic is rather different from what you show, It had a Feldgrau Collar and Shoulder boards with internal angled lower pockets. What you show is more akin to the Whermacht M36 Tunic, With the bottle green collar and shoulder boards. -The east German uniform you showed Was an Early Uniform, Or Parade uniform later on. The East Germans Dropped the Grey wool uniforms pretty early on and Adopted Blumentarn camo uniforms, Which got replaced by Strichtarn, a copy of Polish Raindrop camo.

  32. The American Commanders of the time, say the war would have easily been lost without France. That’s why so many of the key Founding Fathers liked to hang around on the European Continent. To be fair most nations are equally as heavy on propaganda, when it comes to such topics.The French Navy, training, weapons and supplies were crucial for victory and continued independence. Britain was essentially fighting all the other large European powers by itself. America had to be given up, in order to maintain the overall empire and homeland. This was a miscalculation by Britain, that could have been resolved with some simple legal/sociological changes. Britannia didn’t compromise in those days though, if you wanted a fight, she’d give you one.

  33. Great video, but you used the wrong flag for Croatia. What you did is the equivalent of using the modern German flag for Nazi Germany in WW2. The Ustase Croatian flag has no "crown", has the opposite checkered pattern and has a big U in the top left. Very different from today's flag.

Arnold's betrayal actually came much later, and had much more to do with a combination of factors, including getting on the bad side of politicians while military governor of Philadelphia, hanging out with Loyalist sympathizers (and marrying one of them), feeling slighted and ignored and passed over by Congress, while others got the credit for this victories, and living a lavish lifestyle that put him in need of money. Whereupon the British got in touch with him (through those Loyalist contacts) and offered him scads o' cash to give up West Point. The failure in Canada was only the beginning of the whole series of events that pushed him over the edge.
