If the P-51 Mustang ate more and then worked out, this is what would result (Minus the engine sourcing issues)
57
Lol, the most famous auto-gyro in Australia is the one used in Mad Max 2.
57
Top bloke by the sounds of it, whoever the driver is
57
You have refined the forgotten aircraft space into a formidable niche for which you excel. Well done as always.
57
4:38 "Locally known as Panzers" Wehraboos everywhere: Happy noises

So let get this right, when Blackburn got a serious customer who knew what they wanted. And the engineers started working on the aircraft on a day other than Monday, when they were hung over they could design aesthetically pleasing aircraft. Ed, thanks for bringing clarity to this question.👍
56
Ed, you have really become a part of my "most favorite" entertainment routine.
56
The fact that CAC got so many A/C into production in that short time span is remarkable.
56
Hey Ed, You're Definitely The King Of The "What Ifs" & The "Never Heard Ofs!" I Subscribe & Love Your Stuff.
55
You say the F-35 is DEFINITELY the superior aircraft but it's not. It's slow, has terrible manoeuvrability, the worst thrust-weight ratio and worst wing loading of ANY current fighter jet. It relies heavily on its stealth which may or may not remain viable and the idea that it will score a hit with EVERY missile launched. This reminds me of all the American Phantom pilots who died in Vietnam because of that same wrong assumption. The F-35 is a turkey and the fact that so many countries chose it is more of a testament to the corruption of their governments and the power of American diplomatic arm-twisting. I am Canadian and the Gripen-E is easily the best choice for our RCAF.

Another good Video Ed. In WW2, the German Blohm & Voss company cooked up a design with a similar nacelle in front of the engine - the Blohm & Voss P192. The old RFC Mess song, sung to the tune of "My bonny lies over the ocean" could have been written with the Spad SA in mind... Take the cylinder out of my kidney The connecting rod out of my brain, -my brain. From the small of my back take the camshaft And assemble the engine again!
55
Lol Ed you say there’s nothing you can say, but then you go on to verbalize, to your audience, what many would like to hear. Especially your reminders and pleas to reach out to those who might be struggling. The ordinance and equipment is ancillary to the human story. Thank you Ed.

I really want to thank Ed Nash for making another kickass video from our very obscure aviation history. This account os only one of many that several Super Mystere pilots had in the 80's. Like Ed said, you need to take this information lightly since the FAH never had the habit of properly documenting incursions into Nicaragua. This information comes first hand from my father but again I understand that several sources have somewhat different information. I do believe everything my father told me and I have more sources withing the retired FAH veterans that have verified this info. Unfortunately USA won't ever acknoledge this fully but the were there and the Contras were in Honduras by their orders. Again I hope you enjoy this story, obviously I did since this is something my father lived through and again Ed thank you very much for shedding light on our military aviation history.

The Finns were quite underrated in the air combat department. Ilmari Juutilainen is prolly one of my favourite fighter aces during the conflicts, him and loads of other Finnish aces were just cool
55
In all fairness the Sky Raider was Douglas's second attempt to meet the Navy requirement. The Sky Pirate was an abject failure and Douglas talked the Navy into letting them use the money left from the development contract to design a new plane rather than try to fix the Sky Pirate.
55
Yet Curtis Wright is still around today, but you can't say that for a lot of its rivals
55
Aircraft design and development had reached a historical fulcrum point, and the accidents rates show it. This was a beautifully British looking aircraft.
54
Basically the equivalent in terms of military aviation of what HMS Dreadnaught was for naval warfare.
54
I just read about Eric Winkle Brown and his involvement with the rubber deck. Fantastic to see footage of it👍 Great video again.
54
Another gem from your library Ed. Reminds me of the Folland Gnat. Thanks Ed. I wonder how many of those Buchons appeared in the "Battle of Britain" ?
53
'Wildebeast eh? - is this what the Air Ministry call 'suitably Gnu equipment' for 'a brave gnu world?' 'Er, yes Minister.'
53
These would be excellent for model kits .
53
Do the Lockheed Hudson! It was to Australia what the B-10 was to the NEI. But better. It was the only aircraft the RAAF had at the start of the Pacific war that was able to operate in the face of the enemy. It ended up doing everything from CAS to NAV to supply and even A2A.

The 51st Highland Division managed to send there 25 pounders back as they were not with the BEF, but fighting alongside the French, The retreated to St Valerie but had sent the guns to Le Harve as they no longer had any ammunition for them. The 51st were captured at St Valerie.

I'm from Finland where we have national conscription and I do think that the system has unfairly bad reputation. However, in this context conscription seems like the best possible recruitment for the opposition. Thank you for bringing these important news and developments from this part of the world.

Great video. May father was a FAA mechanic during the war that worked on Seafires. He told me about one of the early ones with the counter rotating double propeller, pilots were warned to keep the rudder neutral during take off because there was no pull to one side. One pilot cut them off with "I know what I'm doing", and then proceeded to take off in a series of swerves.
52
I'm Belgian, interested in aviation, and I had never heard of those planes, so a big thank you! Very typical belgian story though...

A Burmese viewer here. Apart from the 3 Brotherhood alliance, the Kachin Independence Army(KIA) in the north also got a similar but separated warning from China as well. TNLA revealed it because out of the 3 Brotherhood, they have the closest relation with NUG and the PDFs and they are more determined to march into Central Myanmar. Meanwhile The Arakan Army is focusing more on liberating Rakhine state capital Sittwe in the west and MNDAA is establishing local government and setting up defenses for upcoming junta counteroffensive to retake Lashio named Operation Hsinbyushin. (Named after a Burmese king who defeated the Qing invasion during Sino-Burmese war.)

A gem of an episode.
51
Ed, you've been making YT vids using your cellphone...and for sound! This is the birth of something excellent. With that kind of determination you deserve every good thing that arrives in your future. Please don't stop. This content is priceless. The beauty of the internet...nothing is lost but you have to put it up first. Good Job, man, Good Job. You're building an archive, bless you.
51
The "Stop it, get some help" made me laugh out loud for real :D
51
Ed you've outdone your self as usual. I'm originally from Cuba and know something on this particular issue and can confirm much of what you're Honduran source said. The Fuersa Aerea Hondureña is well known as a professional group of well trained pilots and maintainers. They do a lot with very little. Thank you Ed and to my Hermanos Hondureños los felicitos.
51
This was fascinating Ed, like many others, I had no knowledge of these interesting vessels. Once again, you've dug out another diamond! Thank you!
51
During my A&E block back in the late 70s I had the dubious pleasure of clerking in several unusual cases and became quite adept at keeping a straight face whilst writing such classics as " I was peeling potatoes in the bath when" . Suffice to say none of the foreign objects I encountered were more dangerous than a toilet brush, which would have little effect on composite armour.
51
Nice vids, great to hear about the lesser known aircraft. The CAC Boomerang might be another worthy of a video one day. Cheers!
51
Imagine waiting three years to troll your enemy
51
Hi Ed, I have some film footage of the CA15 in flight if you are interested. Perhaps not much existing.
51
Ed that was an excellent and concise review of the so called "soccer war". I remember how both governments stoked the crisis to divert the peoples attention from their ineptness in providing jobs and essential public services. Thank you for sharing.
50
1:37 that edit had me in the stitches
50
Your videos are superb. I love these semi forgotten and obscure aircraft. Thank you.
50
I can’t believe how quick we went from the first flight to Gen 4 jet fighters 🤯
50
I'm presently surprised by the EU's decision and believe that now they are serious. LOL what next T 72's. Thank you Ed for serving accurate trust worthy information. Bless you!!
50
Incredibly ugly! I'm surprised the Fleet Air Arm didn't order some of them... ;-)
50
Holy crap. It served until the 1980s as a prop plane during the Cold War
49
I remember seeing this on one of those old HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) postcard/calender things. I also believe they were in an old war movie (Border) that I saw as a kid. Beautiful plane, love the channel.
49
Thanks Ed for sharing this bit of little known military history about the Korean war! My father was deployed to Inchon, Korea with 1st Marine Engineers of the U.S.M.C. during this time. I appreciate your excellent work!
49
Excellent! Outstanding! Thanks so much for covering this rare type. As a very young volunteer with Australian Aircraft Restoration Group in the 1960s, one of my duties was to clean the Perspex on the "moulded Perspex sighting turret", one of few remaining components from this aircraft. It's still there.

YouTube need more channels like these

"Dropped in a blender, and then crushed". They didn't so much bury the observer as pour him into his grave with a ladle.

Hey Ed couple of things. You've undersold Slovakia's transfers and sales, missing both the transfer of T72 and the sale of ZUZANA 2. Lots of ammunition too both heavy and light. Keep seeing Slovak transfers missed off lists Also Slovenia (not Slovakia I'll just stress that so no one thinks I'm making that classic mistake) is the likely source of the F2000.
