Copied but these technological advancements that will bring mankind forward should be open design anyway... IMHO

In Finland it is customary to use three layered windows. The caps are filled with argon gas.
8
Underated channel. Love the content, keep it coming champ!
8
Was wondering about corrosivity and turbine strain.
8
Great video - thank you for such an accessible breakdown of this!
8
Congrats on the Phd thesis submission ... whew! Weight of the shoulders for sure! Regarding this video, airborne wind turbines seem like an exercise in frustration for its developers though I wish them well. That said, I wonder if wave or tidal energy systems might be a quicker path to more reliable/economical electricity generation. Thanks for covering this topic and thanks for the wind turbines in your background shot. Nice touch! lol
8
Oh the quality improved drastically in this video - cheeky from u Ryan

Great ideas. And, like a lot of things, it will probably become more practical with time and effort. I would not call this "renewable" energy, though. Maybe an [essentially] infinite energy source, unless, of course, the Earth's core renews itself. Thanks for posting this.
8
Super intriguing, good to see some tangible options coming through for fusion.
8
Thanks for being normal, informative, concise and non-clickbait. Unlike 90% on this topic. Subbed.
8
Wow yeah for hybrid aircraft very soon this cooling oil will be extremely important presumably! Many aviation and other applications for all of this!!
8
That's pretty awesome :-D Battery storage is literally the most limiting factor right now, in freeing humanity from mundane tasks....
8
'different intellectual property laws in China' = none
8
Video suggestion, zero carbon emission schemes for arlgriculture and food production!

I love it when I find a new channel that is as well produced and researched as this one. New subscriber here, this was fascinating!
7
You'll still have to screen it... To keep mammals and logs out of it.
7
“So how do you join batteries together?” “Dovetail, mortice and tenon…”
7
Might work for preventing coastal erosion too. A few rows of those parallel to the coast should be able level the waves.
7
Come on...let’s not scale up. Let’s scale down. Give me a plasma lighter. For the time being, that’s the best we are going to get out of this tech here on Earth!

The cadence of your narrative is much better then the often manic pace of many other video narrations. Interesting stuff and it seems clear that creating propulsive force from electricity has a long way to go become commercially viable. Flying drones powered by this technology may be the starting point.
7
Great video. I was following the helion project as well. I suppose we are on the cusp of commercial fusion energy viability.
7
Keep up the great work your content is amazing!
7
We need nations to be encouraged into experimenting and sharing the costs of developing projects to reduce emissions. The flip side of that is that capitalists will always capitalists and if emission reduction projects were open source, they'd not engage, or engage fairly, unless they where allowed to capitalise and make massive gains from it and ensure others couldn't. Monopoly Capitalism will always see projects crawl along and lobbies will always be there to ensure the pioneers are held back.

But the rotor requires DC current to generate the magnetic field, while the wireless transmission only works with AC. How did they solve that? Full bridge rectifier in the rotor?
7
Honestly, man, you have some of the most interesting videos I have seen on youtube. I would love to see more frequent video uploads from you (assuming this is possible). Keep up the great work!
7
Very interesting and nicely explained. 👍
7
the carbon cost of the unit is surely much lower than conventional turbines as well, less maintenance and a much longer projected life with easier maintenance has to be factored in.
7
I am conviced...to never invest in Energy Vault.
7
it's best to not call it reward/punishment, it gives an extremely inaccurate impression. the AI is optimizing for a "reward function", it's not actually a reward like a treat for a dog. it's just a value where larger=better. the AI is simply designed to try and obtain the largest possible value, and researchers make the value awarded correlated with the real world result we want, therefore the AI achieves something aligned with our goals. that's the idea
7
The fundamentals of design were public. No challenge was made to patent infringement. This is slander based on nothing but bigotry and prejudice.
7
Nice one! If you're looking for similar topics to couver in the future, a follow-up on the Finnish disposal site would be interesting. Especially the technical aspects of storing the waste, precautions, safety measures, and long-term operation plans.
7
Suspicious? Maybe ... but YES to another tragic story of an innovative Concept ideaed, designed and developed in europe, that did not get established. Today so may "climate specialists" call for innovative ideas to make all over green energy, but 10 years in the past, no one was willing to invest in a technology, that would have now be probably releasable to the market.
7
It just means it's five times more efficient than normal electric airplanes. No perpetually motion machines involved
7
Very cool video. I do love the guy but I wish Elon would focus more on creating cheap, environmentally friendly vehicles for the masses rather than crap like this though.
7
If you haven't heard the story of when he crashed and his only injury was the eject caused him to bite his tongue... It's worth more research :)

Isn't the load factor accounting for the day and night cycle? Bacause in the conclusion at 6:23 it says the monthly load factor. Also if you would have a solar panel which is rated at 730 watt and getting only 33% of the wattage at clear daylight would seem very little unless they account for the nighttime which would mean that the maximum load factor is around 50%.

4:20 Talking about making nanofibres from living tissues gets me thinking of fantasy sword names as Sword of Oak or dagger of the Crow. I think i heard some metalurgist say that incorporating those nanostructures as carbon in steel (carbonizing them first) helps the strength as there will be billions of nano lattices retaining the organic structure used -i.e. natures bone and tree structures are strong. I have no idea if this makes any metalurgical sense and I don't remember where I heard it.

My kids and I love your videos! You're a librarian of genius ideas, engineering, and emerging technologies! Cheers!😀
6
Super interesting and well explained! Elon be elon.
6
I remember a video from years ago Someone converted a car ac compressor into an ice, very similar to this one except combining two compressors in opposing manner. Good job.
6
That's not true. The levelized cost of solar is lower than most other forms of energy. Wind and hydro are sometimes cheaper in some places. But that's the actual issue with hydro power: you can't put it everywhere. Solar works basically everywhere. Even in Northern countries like Germany, it has become the cheapest form of electricity.
6
What a mis-informed comment !
6
Thank you for covering this breakthrough. I hope it makes it to the next stage of development and can be scaled up. 👍
6
It would be interesting to see installation and maintenance costs from a trial run. At least in the renderings, it looks like the panels aren't pointed in the optimal direction, and it would be great to know the actual cost of keeping the panels clean enough to work properly.
6
Thunder foot literally exposed the flaws in this " future energy storage device " two years ago.
6
What about using golf ball dimples on propellers like was done on Mythbusters to improve MPG on a vehicle? Add that to the whale design then see if that does anything more for efficiency and noise reduction.
6
No, unfortunately Fission and Fusion are only energy positive when going towards iron, imagine pushing something down a hill, your going to have to put more energy in if your trying to go uphill. Edit: This is also why stars can't survive with elements heavier than iron, they can't fuse it anymore so gravity takes over
6
Would like to see more about this in renewable energy
6
Doesn't matter if you are not living next to the desalination plant.
