  13. This is one of the nicer looking areas of the Midwest I've seen. It's pretty clean and well maintained. And it looks respectfully safe too. If I wanted a decent house for cheap and didn't want to live in a big city, this looks like it's a good place to be. Good job Erie PA!🎉❤🎉❤

  14. Wow...Back in the 70s when I was a teenager, it was my stomping ground. My older married sister (now passed) owned a house there in McKeesport, Pa. and I lived with her off+on, I'm shocked at the poor condition it's in!!!

  15. We've seen a lot of worse places than this, however, it's always sad to see nice homes that have been abandoned because people had to move elsewhere. There are quite a few nice, well maintained homes and some businesses left here. It still looks like there is some pride in the town.

This is my wife's home town... would you believe Charleston is the state capital of west Virginia.. now look at it...the coal industry is gone along with manufacturing that once at once was a booming city. My wife is glad I took her away from that place 25 years ago..... Even Daniel Boone did once live there..He kept moving west ward..

  24. Appalachia is one of my favorite regions to drive through. Would really like to see one of these night recordings that you make correspond with the upcoming super moons. It's amazing how much the full moon brightens up the sky, and makes horizons and building outlines more discernible 😍.

  25. My hometown, stayed until I was in my mid 30s. If anybody ever asks why I left, I’ll show them this. I recognize so many places, the old St. Joes hospital, factories, etc. My sister and other family members are still there. Some parts are still nice, but not like it once was. Thanks for posting.

  33. Wow. I can only imagine the stories those large buildings by the first railroad crossing could tell, and the stories of the people who worked there. I also find the juxtaposition of a row of dilapidated, crumbling homes, next to a house that is clearly inhabited, fascinating.

  35. After WW2, even when the mills were roaring, Aliquippa was in decline as more and more people, often enabled by the GI Bill, moved out to the townships. Better schools, better air, a yard, and all that.

  45. Wow! Those homes with the golden brick fronts and wooden sides really fascinated me for some reason. So many of those houses looked huge! I wish that one street in what looked like an industrial-type area had not been closed to traffic! Would LOVE to have seen that! This one was very interesting. Had you not told us you were in the Detroit area, I never would have guessed this location.

  48. My wife is from Ohio, outside of Youngstown specifically. Every time she sees these videos she's astounded at what has become of these places. And its not that they weren't decaying when she left, its that its only been 12 years since she left and those years have not been kind to those towns.

  49. Excellent drive today. Thank you. I wood love to see a drive around Wiley Ford West Virginia (also un-incorporated.) , the airport, and Cumberland Md. I havent been home in a decade plus .Our family farm , after Immanent domain, become the airtport and the highway runs right through the living room of our home. They took the land. They will never get the good and golden memories. You stay safe out there and enjoy this lovely spring.
