  1. Maybe fake manual transmissoons could work if manufacturers allow users to have the choice to make it work like a normal EV whenever they want to, which is definitely possible. This gives the driver the choice to row through gears for fun and nostalgia, and still have normal EV benefits for normal use. This reminds me of how Subaru does their CVTs in some of their cars. In normal D mode, it acts like how a CVT should by finding the optimum RPM and sticking to it while in Sport mode, it does fake shifts. So despite the 'sport' tag in sport mode, it is actually slower in terms of outright acceleration than in normal D mode, but sport mode feels more engaging and less 'annoying'. Regardless of which you prefer, atleast you have the choice, which is how I hope fake manual EVs will give.

  3. I think Sabine Schmitz showed how the best upgrade to performance on modern vehicles is upgrading the driver when she nearly broke 10 minutes on the Nurburgring - in a delivery van. Most people that do these upgrades never do anything that warrants them.

  18. It's a good thing for folks like me with disabilities that the auto version of this car doesn't suck! I really miss driving manual from my able-bodied days, but the reality is that my spine isn't gonna start working again. So cars that are engaging with an automatic are excellent for accessibility, since I can still drive them with hand controls. Edit: to clarify I drive a Tesla Model 3 LR now and used to drive a '06 Miata with a 5 speed. The Tesla is less engaging, but it's good enough for me. I'm just overall glad there's effort going into experiences that everyone can use, whenever they're EV or dual clutch or CVT or slushbox.

  31. And when you get set of nice expensive studded tyres drift only when there isn't spots with out snow :D Otherwise you are going to destroy your tires quite fast. Studless tyres are also good option for enjoying winter with out fearing so much destroying your tires but they are useless on frozen lakes so if you want to drift on those you need studded tyres. Also remember to switch your tyres around every year so they wear evenly and you get more balanced grip (or lack of it :D) And most importantly don't buy boring fwd car!

  45. One thing you could have mentioned as additional info at 11:30 is that the 2012 Nissan Leaf had a tiny 24 kWh battery pack - meaning that 50k miles took double to quadruple the charge cycles that you'd expect for a typical 2024 EV.
