The red light of dawn being the Sun being birthed, blood and all, is such an INTENSE image. Thank you for the insight!
42
"simple piety" and "ethical duty;" basic but profound magic right there. Thanks for another enjoyable deep dive!
42
A couple times it felt like I was pooping out a demon, now I know the truth. Thanks Esoterica!
42
ok so I recently learned the history of the word "awful" it used to be positive, literally meaning "full of awe" but basically the British used Sarcastically so much that it eventually took on the opposite meaning
42
Double trouble. Thanks for sharing this epic scholarship Dr Sledge, it’s a real treat. Keep em coming.
42
I love this channel yes! So satisfying to clarify I’m not a negative person because I believe in magick and metaphysical things. My family looks at it so negatively.🤦🏽♀️ thank you for the informative videos!
42
Thanks! Massive fan Dr. Sledge. You bring a strict scholarly perspective to subjects that rarely receive it. Can't get enough of your videos!!
42
So when do we get "the Pistis Sophia for dummies"? Or is this it?
42
I appreciate the irony of the subject matter more than ever after being told that " Nostalgia is a form of depression " by someone who chooses a career teaching such a specialized topic of History. 😉 This channel is sincerely the best single source of ongoing esoteric instruction in human history . I appreciate your dedication, your content, and the community of amazing, curious and sophisticated people who congregate here to learn. Cheers!
42
As an educator, thank you. This kind of support makes a difference.
42
This was suuuuuper interesting. It's so close to the stuff I'm working on (16th century Italian Christian Cabala) and yet soooo far... I will definitely have to pick up the Ogren book. I read his last one not too long ago "The Beginning of the World in Renaissance Thought" which is largely about Pico, Alemanno, and Abravanel.
42
Such a wonderful and truly compelling episode. You presented the relationship between the Masoretic Text and the Septuagint in a way I’d never really heard before and it’s utterly fascinating.
42
Yes! First time I've seen my name in the end credits. And quite well worth it. I miss being at a university and getting this kind of detailed knowledge; thank you truly.
42
Nietzsche slide: "not pictured, the void, on the left" so good
42
Honestly the bit about fanatics being terrified of witches making peoples penises vanish feels oddly on brand even today.

As a Christian, i love learning about jewish demonology and tradition in general. Every so often i study parts of the talmud online. Thank you to both of you for making this easily and readily available. The typical historical mindset from Christians about the jews, is that they had secret knowledge but were unable to do anything with it because anti-semitism. I agree that the Jews have knowledge about our god, and we may live our lives differently and worship God differently, but I know that I can learn a lot from Jews and Jewish customs. I'm very thankful for you Dr Sledge, this channel, and everything you've done for my intellectual and spiritual walk.

aw man i was just hankering for more 19th century american heterodoxy, a birthday miracle 🥹

I just discovered this channel. I'm now on my 4th video. This content is almost too good to be true. I really can't express how impressed I am - impressed, enthralled, fascinated and generally overjoyed! Thank you so much for sharing your considerable talents with us all.
41
Thoth would totally make an epic name for a power metal band... or perhaps Egyptian glory metal?

I’m from the Netherlands (East Netherlands) and didn’t know we had such a thing as the Bibliotheca in our country, now visiting is on my to-do list for the near future 👍 I’ve been fascinated by Hermetica, Kabbalah and Religions (similarities and differences) since I experienced an altered state of mind after my father passed away 7 years ago, but never knew where to start looking to learn more. I’ve been following your channel for a little while now, and I want to thank you as your videos have also been very informative and helpful in understanding what I experienced.

Wow what a fantastic episode Dr S. I love this stuff. Having gotten a bit lost in ‘traditional’ Stoicism I went the path of bro Stoicism only to realise it’s ‘trendy’ nature fits right into the personal development vibe. Look forward to more of this if possible…please!?

I am so excited for the rest of this series. Paracelcus is one of those esotericists that I feel like I should know more about, but couldn't tell you a whole lot about (other than his awesome name). The other thing I know about our friend is that his name makes an appearance in the first Harry Potter book. He has his very own chocolate frog card, for those who are interested in that. Thank you as always, Justin. I hope you enjoyed Wolves in the Throne Room and Blackbraid when they were in your neck of the woods. 🤟
41
Genius research, Justin. I love the way you teach and explain these subjects.
41
This was a great episode. I'm really enjoying how your choice of subject matter is spreading. You've been covering a lot of great topics recently.
41
I can't begin to express my gratitude for your channel. I love all your videos. Thank you.
41
They totally missed the opportunity to claim that their esoteric knowledge allowed them to locate the buried treasure of the tomb.
41
Just added Stories from Ancient Canaan to my reading list! Thanks for the great intro to the topic.
41
Dr. Sledge! Love your videos and how you present topics and coverage of books. This one was my most anticipated video of yours and you delivered well above and beyond. Thank you good sir.

Catharsis is a high energy word and the story behind it is just magical ! Mesmerized of how you depict it . Thk u again , Dr. Sledge ❣️
41
Fantastic analysis as usual. Could it be the time that Anglo-American occulture finally discovers how laboratory alchemy never disappeared in non-Protestant countries? Maybe in the future you could look into Principe Raimondo di Sangro and in the esoteric orders that he inspired.
41
Dziękujemy.

I grew up in a high-control Christian sect that emphasized evangelizing. Now, after a sojourn into strict atheism, I am reconstructing a sort of metaphorical liberal Christianity in my own life. Understanding more of the breadth of this faith tradition is a truly healing and powerful part of my life, and Dr. Sledge has been a key part of that growth. !
40
So glad you got your music back. Thank you for all you do. ❤
40
Thanks! Can't wait for the Merkabah series! There's hardly any content on the topic, on yt.
40
I’m a scholar of modern English language literature, and these close readings and explorations of foundational written texts give such great context for reading modern texts and exegeses thereof. Thank you again for sharing, Dr Sledge!
40
I cannot imagine the pressure of trying to create an introduction video to such a complex topic with contradictory and obscure information. In my humble opinion, Dr. Sledge, you did a fantastic job. And you have inspired me to read the text myself. Thank you!!!
40
excellent analysis! Bataille's one of my favorite writers ever. his philosophy is both gorgeous and chilling, totally absorbing
40
Thanks for addressing the demiurge and archons which are hot new topics for people to discuss incorrectly in metaphysical/paranormal spaces nowadays.
40
I could tell from early on in the video that this was a very personal upload. It’s a topic that you deftly demonstrated to be at once timely and timeless. Thank you for sharing your experience—it’s the personal touches of channels like yours and others in the religious studies space that make for a truly special place on the internet.

I loved this.... I love golem stories and any occult or mystical literature on the golem. Back in the 90s when I was in college I wrote a report on the golem. I remember I talked about the humonculus, frankinstein, and how shelley used the golem story as part of her story. I also added modern golem stories from movies. Like terminator, terminator 2, and data from ST TNG and bladerunner. Then saying that data, robots and androids are just future looking golems.

Awesome episode Dr Sledge. I applied a Sephardic key by changing the letters that are not Solitreo ie, Greek and the weird ones. And this is what I got for the first line, Front page First Paragraph First line Word My person who represents my ancestors begins this which I’m able to understand in my mind that it changes in its cosmic cycle of life and death. as we traveled he directed our attention to everything that moved in the cosmos. Everything that is has their place and state He said that everything changes and it's impregnated with the primal force of its source. Its physical existence and response is impregnated in this world with the achievement of its vital impregnation. It contains the seed or its place and state. He said that life and death is the precursor of the life and death of the universe and this is the state and place of the life and death of the universe. He said change is the origin of the state and being of the universe. The response of life in the universe originates from what is made in what it holds and how it changes.
39
Keep up the exceptional job, Dr Sledge 👏⚒️
39
Looks like I have my lunch hour planned! 🖤
39
I love how supportive you are of other channels and people.
39
Yeah we are told explicitly not to play with any of this, which is like telling children not to touch something
39
This one is going to be one of those I get to enjoy multiple times. Thanks!
39
Whether actually written by Paracelsus or not, this sounds like a text begging for a modern, scholarly translation.
39
Welcome all to the academic esoteric center of YouTube! Enjoy!
