Hi Chris, I came here from Ireland on a permanent residency 15 years ago with my girlfriend, we fell in love with Perth and decided to settle here, married with 3 kids now and can't believe the difference in the country the last 7 - 8 years, we moved here for a better life for our children but it is looking like we may have to move back to Ireland for them to have any sort for financial future. There is no way they will be able to afford their own homes. Even if my wife and I stay, there is a high chance my children will emigrate.

  6. I'm one of the lucky few to own a house with virtually no mortgage - the catalyst? My father dying so I could inherit part of his estate. He didn't even have a high-paying job during his working life but as a Boomer who lived through Australia's golden era, he was able to afford a double-brick, three bedroom home on 800 sqm and access to high-returning superannuation schemes that netted him a good chunk of money. Australia is not the way it is by accident - it is by design.

  16. Vast immigration and rising cost of living are the two main reasons I'm planning to leave this country. I used to love Australia, but now I just don't recognise it. People are more stressed about money and housing and they are having less (or no) children. Government solution to less births? Bring in more people from overseas! It's a cut-throat never-ending cycle that is making life impossible for the middle class and below. Sadly, I'll be leaving as soon as I can, but taking my work with me. Another loss to Australia are people like me earning our money here but spending it overseas where they live. Not our fault. It's just far more affordable and less crowded in other places. As an aside, I've lost my Patriotism for Australia. I've lost interest in our major sporting teams. It saddens me. I just can't do it anymore. Every single day I see the struggle many Australians go through. For what reason? Everything we have here has been sold off by successive Governments. No forward thinking. Just a cash grab. What do we even call our own these days? Not our mines. Not our energy. Not our farms. Not our natural resources. Not even our banks, supermarkets, nor utilities. It's sickening and terribly sad. We need someone to stand up and look after the best interests of Australia and it's people first.

They told me they got jobs unbolting all the looms from Palm Beach Towels (SA), and packing EVERYTHING into sea containers. They were excited about going to China and laying out the production line in a new factory over there. Textile industry was first to bail out of our economy. I still remember the uneasy feeling as they were telling me about it.

  21. Too many immigrants too quickly since 2000, we've diluted what it means to Australian. We haven't had the ability to fully integrate them like we did in the 50s, 60s and 70s. This means we are now just becoming country of different ethnic cultures in a geographical area. Best analogy is that we use to be a family, now we are like a workplace. Oh, and we've imported too many from third world countries and all the additional struggle that comes from that. Its all by design in the west. They want us replaced with people who cause less trouble and demand less accountability. You think the covid response, or our deathwish energy environmental policies would have been tolerated in pre 2000s Australia? Not a f'ing chance.

  24. Maths vs reality vs hourly rate. Hour rate is the key. Ie 60hr/wk @ $30/hr = $1800/week The same guy on $100/hr only has to work for 18 hours to earn the same. Once you realise this, it can be devastating. You can only work so many hours per week before life loses all meaning. Seeing idiots earning big bucks (high hourly rate) whilst you work yourself into the ground is disheartening. Watching your govt give hundreds of millions of dollars away whilst the Aust people struggle is criminal. What to do: * either find a higher hour rate * withdraw yourself from the game, eat some popcorn and watch it all collapse

We dont have an Aldi here because there is no land available( so I have been told) Be nice to supermarket staff...they are pushed to their limits. Im with you on this one, Mate

  31. this is all by design. my father was able to come to Australia and work a a laborer and buy a house with no loan....all by himself. I grew up in the 70s and 80s......you just didnt see the problems gen z and millennials are facing. i could see the trend a couple of decades ago.....prices and fees going up faster than wages. I knew it would come to what we see today. the answer? there isnt one. its past the point of no return. on top of that mass immigration is making sure it stays unaffordable for young Aussies. thankfully im set. And im making sure my two children get a very high paying career.

Rather, they bring in totally different cultures and people, and promote LGBT, Feminism, Drugs and other destructive activities...what kind of a person do you have to be to make decisions like that?   35. Your country has land but the government refused to build on it until recently because they want the property prices to remain very high so they can collect high stamp duty. Foreigners don't own that much of the land. Most of the land is Australian owned but your government is very corrupt.

  36. Last X-mass was the toughest we've ever had. We live a very basic lifestyle and we won't even be able sustain that going forward with price increase on every single bill. I'm just thankful we only have 2 kids. I literally don't think we could make it with three kids no matter how frugal we lived. This country is absolutely cooked!

  38. We're in a cost of government crisis. We need our version of DOGE urgently, to take a chainsaw to the public sector starting with NDIS, along with immigration reduced to near zero. We won't get this from the Labor/Liberal uniparty though. Only hope is to elect as many minor party candidates as possible. We'd turn this around fast if we get the right people in charge. See how successful Javier Milei has been in Argentina already. Sadly most people are too uneducated to understand how preferential voting works and end up re-electing the same bunch of fools.
