It's a very beautiful story no doubt. That last victory over her opponent before fleeing sounds so badass. I hope it did really happen.

I always thought the Late Nintendo President Yamauchi (from 80s and 90s) looked like a Yakuza Boss. Seriously, look him up.
24
Thank you as always for providing an incredibly entertaining and historically impeccable video š
24
Sounds like a case for Takayuki Yagami
23
Love as this drops as I finish the newest Like a Dragon release
23
I watched another video about the Triads that also goes deep into what they do and their origins. I always imagined them as a lot larger and a lot more powerful than the Yakuza.
23
Thank you for an informative & well versed story. So much to learn. Well done on your research!
23
The entirety of Japan's entry into WW2 is just a giant shit show. This was really interesting, I've never heard about the Yakuza connection, and I'm not even sure if I've heard of mitsuru before this. Great video, keep up the good work!
22
Never build a bureaucracy on haunted ground: you never know what horror might unfold! Very interesting video.
22
Keep em coming, you deserve soo much more traffic
22
Despite the long form you still keep me engaged, well done; I look forward to the next one.
22
This guy releases videos so quick, hes going to have to start making scandals happen just so he has a video topic. Great videos so far man!
22
As a side note it improves your Golf Swing, allegedly...
22
Finally, a channel that brings these great Japanese history stories to an English speaking audience. Thank you for bringing me these interesting and alluring stories of Japanese culture
22
One of your best videos, possibly the best. Amazing watch! Keep going! A shinsengumi topic might also be good!
21
I only found your channel couple days ago and I just wanna say how much I appreciate your storytelling, people say they want Samurai stories but they actually mean "Hollywood" "Seven Samurai, 47 Ronin, The Last Samurai", they don't want to know why those legends, that history, the reasons and why today's Japan and her people still has that foundation
21
I am absolutely loving these videos. Iām being so serious when I say I recommend them all the time to friends. Keep up the incredible work

I love the story of William Adams. Itās very interesting. Itās also very ironic that Edo Japanās persecution of Catholic Christians was the result of William Adams, a Protestant Christian, advising the Shogunate to order all Japanese Catholics to abandon their faith. Which in itself was influenced by the Portuguese Jesuits, who had already started missions in Japan before Adamsās arrival, not liking that Adams was even there in the first place.
20
I was hoping you would do a video about him one of these days. And now itās finally happening. I really wish we knew more about his life and his time in Japan.
20
Another amazing video. His luck really started at the end of the war. āGraduated at the top of your class? Here, become a torpedo for usā¦hang on, never mind, war is over.ā š

So, this was the inspiration for Kaneda's gangs and the clowns in Akira?
20
Honestly, I always feel like Nintendo has some yakuzaesque vibes from being a big time Japanese company. I thought that it was just in my head. Sega, on the other hand, while I am not surprised at all. I did not know they had Yakuza ties themselves, it was obvious give how big the Yakuza games are, but also schemes like them as well given their history of shady business practices and employee abuse.
19
foreigners in Japan are part of Japanese history, bro
19
In 2023 It's still possible to see Bosuzoku in Japan. If you go to Katasae Enoshima on a Sunday night between 8pm and 10pm you will see and HEAR them on their Sunday night ride. The sound is so bad and so loud it feels like the world is about to end as they ride past.
19
The Lucky Luciano of the Yakuza, for sure!
19
I really enjoyed the video! š I'd love to know more about samurai family life, kind of "a day in the life of a samurai off the battlefield" š¤
19
We, the audience, are like Kings being read their royal chronicles--what a joy and a privilege!
19
This videoās subject feels like it was specifically chosen to cater to my interests lol.
19
Man, the background music just made me redownload the entire yakuza series again.
19
Wonderful presentation....so fascinating to learn about different cultures. TY for your hard work.
18
I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel yesterday! I'm a huge fan of history with a deep interest in criminal organizations too. Really looking forward to next episodes! Thank you so much for these!
18
I once saw a blind Bakuto/Masseuse have a run of at least a dozen wins, without leaving the circle, at a festival near Edo back in the day.
18
I don't really know anything about Sumo, but I do think it is remarkable how it keeps traditions alive. A Sumo event seems like a glimpse into the Edo period. That's something you'd never see in any other sport. I shouldn't be surprised there is Yakuza involvement. It seems like everything in Japan, especially sports and entertainment has Yakuza ties.
18
Such a fascinating presentation...thank you
18
Thank you so much for this great production. Guess gangs are in every country.
17
Nice video! I have a sleeve done by tebori and the backpiece is in progress.. love the traditional Japanese tattoos. They hurt differently, wouldnāt say more or less but overall its very doable. I do prefer the traditional tebori way over machine. It has a richness like a layer whereas work by machine looks more flat.. hope that helps anyone looking for a traditional Japanese Tattoošš¼
17
Your production quality is insane! Keep it up! Amazing video as always!
17
even though japan at the time was absolutely insane and had already basically abandoned a majority of their edo period culture by the time ww2 happened, it still sucks that they had to give up something as culturally identifying as swords. There was probably a ton of super cool swords that got melted for scrap and got turned into mass produced screws and bolts, and even modern day japan is so horrified at the idea of swords that they are really strict about anyone even owning one. Imo it seems like it'd be cooler if japan became as patriotic about sword ownership as america is with guns, like imagine going to japan and being able to see someone's family sword hung up on a wall, that'd be cool as heck.
17
ah, I always heard of the real Shibuya Incident but never knew the actual cause.
17
Hell yeah, thanks for covering my favorite subject about Japanese culture
17
Really good video and I really appreciate the Chrono Trier song at the end lol I wonder if many people watching this know what that is from
17
I truly though this would be a massive channel the way you edit, very impressive.
16
Wow it kind of makes it strange now that the Game Freak headquarters and Team Rocket's Game Corner are both in Celadon City together in the games.
16
Konami being run by the yakuza might be an improvement i bet we would get some fun experimental games.š
16
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I look forward to your videos :)
16
Okay but why does the picture of Nishimura posing in front of a Tom & Jerry dresser go so hard?
16
Didnāt Gunpei Yokoi died in a car accident a year after left Nintendo and started working on a game boy competitor for a rival company? That accident looks a little suspicious.
16
What a strange thing to say... š
15
Hey! Thats NIOH soundtrack! Awesome!
15
Another incredible and interesting story. From working with the mafia to working with thr yakuza, this man's story would make a great movie. Keep it up aniki, loving the unique stories.
