Australia is a good option, it costs me $5,000 per month. $2500 of that is rent. I cannot afford restaurants or alcohol but you can get fish and chips or macdonalds for $20 per person. Internet is $80 per month, electricity $200 to $300 per month. Registration and insurance on a car approx $2000 per year or about $170 per month. Food and groceries $1200 per month. Cigarettes cost me $540 per month. Petrol $150 per month if you dont go far. Coffee is approx $5 to $6 a cup in cafes. A nice slice of cake will cost you $5 to $10 per slice in a cafe. If you dont smoke you could live on $4500 per month.

This information it's Outdated..Not real the info it's totally wrong. I recently visited The south, orth and West Europe. Rent and living expenses for expats are very expensive. No one could live with $1,500dls or 1,450 Euros a month including food, rent, etc. You're full of Shi.@#$.

The amount you are quoting as pension is on the very very higher side for Indians. India is cheaper than all these countries you have mentioned.

Amarillo offers a lot of opportunities to folks who just don't care. I love it here. I have wall art that came from the same store where I bought my giant naugahyde recliner. No one even cares. I don't have a clue how to properly open a bottle of wine or how to hold my glass. No one cares. My music collection has nothing in it post 1985. I haven't bought any new music in decades. No one cares. I grow Kentucky bluegrass in a desert and pour salty water on it and then mow it too short. No one cares. My steel edging sticks up 3" or ,4" too high so as to endanger anyone who might fall on it. Again, no one cares. Our civic auditorium gets lame entertainment like, Herp Albert. No one cares. It is a great place to live a laid back life and has some mighty pretty canyon land " breaks" only a few miles away in almost any direction. Bring some hiking boots and enjoy the natural beauty of this place. I'd pack a lunch. Amarillo has some of the ugliest restaurants you'll ever witness. No pretty tablecloths or cut flowers or cute stuff. Just crap hanging on walls that has never been dusted. I love this place.

Obama's "War on Coal" has had a long-lasting and far-reaching economic effect. Water, rail, and road transportation industries relied heavily on coal. Innumerable, support industries have failed due to this environmental policy as well. Thanks, Obama...

I have lived in Costa Rica for several years. It is not cheep to live there! Cost of living is equal to where I live in Pennsylvania. If you live in New York City yes it is less expensive. I will say the Tico’s are very friendly. A lot of English is spoken. If you have a major medical problem you will have to wait for treatment on the public system.

As I have been an expat and I am in Asia and I am about to retire in Thailand... I think I am qualified to give anyone contemplating retirement abroad [on the cheap]. If you are a seasoned expat with experience and thus know how to avoid making most mistakes in a new country / travelling then you can maybe be healthy and live in several of these countries starting at $1500 USD per month. Personally, I consider $2,000 USD more reasonable if you drink alcohol or intend to date the opposite sex, whatever sex that is I don't care, it cost money and you as the expat will pay. For those that intend to supporting a drinking habit in their retirement years, that cost about $12-15 a day in these countries, still a whole lot less than the USA, beer/liquor is like oil, it's internationally fungible and beer and booze is not free anywhere.
