So cool for her.

Excellent segment! As a journalist this topic is very important for me to consider. Thank you Tibisay Zea for bringing their work to light!

I wasn't sure Simcos was still there. We always stopped there when wecwent to Houghton's Pond in the way back (60's) Then it was called Simcos on the bridge with foot long hot dogs.😂

It's SOOOOOOOO cool to see my Family Members, long before 13 years before I was born. It feels so nice to see my Grandmother, Victoria Bell, and Aunts, Uncles' when they were just kids making history. My mother, only 8yo in this video, looks so adorable... like I've never seen her before. What is not discussed here was they were LITERALLY in 1000s of Magazine, Newspapers, Videos, and News reports around the WORLD. Some of them have passed away so it's a nice thing to see them brought back to life in a way by film from the Early 1960s.

This is the best thing on the internet now and it's not even close.

Seriously thank you so much for this. I watched and experienced the tail end of the completion of the dig during my childhood and always thought about deep diving and finding out all the history, so thank you!!

We talk about this a lot in academia. There are many students who are coming to college/university to get a 4 year degree but no tangible endpoint for it. If you have an interest or novel idea to take it somewhere, then do it. But for those who are suckered into spending tons of money to come out with no job prospects or any ideas on where to go, it's not worth it. Trade schools and community colleges with Associate's degrees may be the better option and more promising for a job outlook. The cost-to-benefit ratio is overlooked when applying to college/university with high school guidance counselors telling students to go without considering the long-term consequences.

This is such a well done video, I love this so much as someone who grew up in Medford for 24 years from 96 onward. I only vaguely remember the big dig as a child. This project was definitely over budget, but has breathed life into the cities downtown, I am forever grateful for all those who protested the inner belt highway. Somerville and Cambridge’s now very expensive real estate and some of the coolest areas would have been destroyed. Boston is so highly sought after now for its density and urbanism and that is kept alive thanks to the brave folks who took time out of their day to protest. I for one love seeing this small tree that is growing on the dead inner belt loop off-shoot on the upper deck of 93 north. It is so symbolic of growth being better than destruction. I am not sure if I am the only one who notices it, but I always point it out to my wife and family. I am saddened that highways have blown through such beautiful places like the middlesex fells reservation and down the mystic through my hometown and I hope that we can someday at least guide it back to being more harmonious and stop expanding the highways with “one more lane bro” it never solves any congestion and we can’t even keep up with the cost of road and highway construction as it is.

Is better then most cities

This was a great series, I found the first episode by accident and watched all of them. I live in SE Wisconsin so the only thing we really heard about the Big Dig was the death from the panel separation and the cost and schedule overruns. This was a very balanced presentation of the concerns of all. I wish we could have a rational discussions of more infrastructure projects.
2
What a nice ending! I truly appreciate this video adaptation providing footage of the open spaces created by moving the HIGHway UNDERground. BRAVO!!

In Dexter Maine this happens every year
2
Fantastic job, thanks for the whole series. As someone who has never lived in Boston but has always been interested in the Big Dig this is so good.

one of the best clips on the topic, thorough and informative - thank you!
2
How long will the job take 30 years of construction?!!
2
Brilliant series. Bravo. Each episode has been a voyage.

Enjoyed the podcast very much from the other side of the ocean. Nine episodes of slow TV, I really loved it. Gave both the insight that things are different over there as well as that things are pretty much the same.
2
Great job putting this together. Knowing the history of this project has made me appreciate it so much more.

Fantastic

This series is fantastic! I really appreciate the visual media that’s nice to watch, but not necessary for the story, except for scenario Z Owo I’ve never been to Boston, but I remember watching a series about the Big Dig’s construction on Modern Marvels as a child and have been interested ever since.
2
Really enjoying this video enhanced presentation of the podcast! Having pictures of the proposed bridge & ramp layout was incredibly helpful to show just how complex it was. The political cartoons were a nice bonus! I lived in Boston (well, Brighton) from the summer of '85 through '88 and frankly I was pretty oblivious about all of this. Living in Los Angeles, I've been hearing a great deal about the ongoing construction of the high speed rail and experiencing the building of the city's light rail Metro lines. Hearing the behind the scenes perspectives on the efforts just to set up such large projects is so informative!

3:41 i did say that..

I think the stop sign reminds me of a spider web, eight legs, eight sides. You're just a busy bee gliding along and all of a sudden.. STOP!

I lived in Burlington 89-93 and drove to Logan for business trips many times at different times of the day, it was ugly and awful, there was never a good time coming back thru the tunnel even with no accidents or car breakdowns which happened once in a while. The podcast video loop brings back nightmares of my trips to Logan.

This is a fantastic series. Thank you.

Wonderful, wonderful interview

This is a daily thing in Vancouver, BC. They roost in an area around a spot that used be just raw land and a river, it's all mostly paved over now but the Crows stuck around. Depending where you live, Crows can be your alarm clock. Then they lay their eggs and the dive bombing people begins, that's not so much fun. Every once in awhile we'll get a Crow that loves to hang around people, They'll stroll in to stores just to hang out.
