This is just an accident. Sure the economoc prediction was well founded, but no economist can predict how fast the developement is. Same is with the US economy. Everybody can predict that Trumps plans will create a recession but we do not know how fast it happens.

Demand for unconditional surrender means war until the end like in ww2. Who want to fight that long? Nobody in the West is prepared to fight and Putin know this. Thats why the war started. We only must continue to increase sanctions until Russian economy collapse than negotiatins can work.

I know that the Russian economy is bat and goes worse. But most Russians speak with take it as a fate. They know very well, that the leading class always have enough money and normal people do not matter. Look to North Korea. The system is very stable.

In many fomer USSR countries people own the appartments they live in. Thats why the calculation with rent is not the typical situation. People in Italy have more own real estate properties than in Germany that is why the living standard in Italy is higher than in Germany despite lower income. You cannot calculate the GDP of Russia just by the average income of the work force. A big part of the government budget still comes from raw material sales which do not need much work force. But the tendency is right because the income from raw material sales is shrinking in Russia. A simple picture helps to understand the economic problems, but we should not forget that the reality is not that simple.

@stephenthomas3085 we all now that the Russian war economy is not sustainable, but we cannot be sure how long Putin can kick the issue down the road. There are still possibilities to squize out money from the citizen, for excample seizing bank accounts above a certain limit.

Why should all the Russian colonies stay under the the control of Moscow if the different ethnicities can become free? It seems to me you never lived in Russia and you have not understood how Mosowites have concoured Bashkiers, Dagestan Ingutetia and all the other republics of the Federation.

You will not sleep well if the Chineese economy is suffering. But if the tiny Russian economy colapse nobody cares. If you look into details and not just Russian propaganda figures the Russian economy is already death. Only their war economy covers the tragedy. I am very disapointed that you consider Peter Zeihan as a reliable source of information. He simply tells anything that his audience in the USA want to hear. Is short, America is great and the rest of the world is doomed. Regarding the economic models for a declining population, you can be sure they are wrong because labour become less a factor in production. Despite a declining population China has 20 to 25 % unemployed young men. Imaging the callenges if China would have an increasing population. Our current trabsition is bigger than the industrial revolution and an increasing population would make it worse. Zheihan's projection from the past to the future is extreemly naive and dangerous. Societies with shrinking polulations have a better chance to develope a modern economy with a focus to AI and away from traditional human work force for different reasons.

@сырпошехонский no, Germany was not an industrial powerhouse after the war. It was destroyed totally and the remaining machines were transported to UK, France and Russia. I even remember how all the forest around our village were cut and transported to France. Poland was more corrupt and poorer than Ukraine but after EU membership the economy grow very fast even without much foreigh investments or the push from rebuilding towns. RHEINMETAL invest right now billions in Ukraine despite the war. They know very well that after the war Ukraine will export more weapons than Russia in the past.

What all the experts ignore is 1. The Russian ban on oil products which had a much bigger profit margin than crude oil. 2. All the revenue with India was made in Rupie which means the money is not available for Russia to buy anyrhing outside India.

Thas an interesting question about Lichtenstein. I think you can consider Lichtenstein as a leftover from the Holy Roman Empire, even the empire itself does not exist anymore. Many things are preserved in the Alps much longer as it always was difficult for external armies to conquer this region. Even sone Latin dialects are alive there.

I was aware that your ancestors came from Zürich because Zurcher is just the local dialect for somebody from Zürich. The duke of Lichtenstein was never an emperor. People from Suebian, Cheruskian, and many other tribes took over the Roman province Rätia and Vindelikia and formed a new tribe called Alleman. After the defeat against the Fran konians the tribe splitted slowly into those living in Switzerland, the Alsac in France and those in Baden and those east of the Black Forest until the river Inn wwre called later Swabians.

In a philosophical sense you are right and science is never absolutely right. But if gravity is in all our observations attractive, it makes it practical to say it is a fact. In economy things are often less sure, but nevertheless there are also some rules we better see as a fact.
