WW2 and the Cold War are over. But the US' lust for war isn't. Latest trick: bombing Libya and fuelling a civil war in Syria, thereby causing over 2 million migrants to come to the EU. Thank you, our precious "allies". The US is the main aggressor of the world and caused more problems for Europe than all of its "enemies" combined. And NATO is just the US' personal tool for foreign interventions. It has little to do with protection anymore, it's pure aggression. But you Americans always have to look to the past to find your relevance. That past is gone now. Your "protection" is no longer relevant. Today, it is YOU that countries need protection from. But go on, reminisce about the old days and ignore the current situation... "but muh Cold War, muh WW2"

+Jamey Mikels Mate, this Russia collusion story is only a thing in the USA. It makes zero sense to attack the European president of NATO over this. You'd have to look long and hard for European politicians/figures that actually said Trump colluded with Russia.

Also fact: NATO is mostly being used by the US to defend their personal interests, not for protecting any of its members. In the case of Libya, NATO intervention even caused a migrant stream into Europe... Keep on paying for your precious little war game tool or dissolve it, we don't care. I would personally rather see you dissolve it and leave others alone. NATO has done more damage to us than any of our "enemies" combined.

Problem is that it isn't just them. I remember Juncker being pissed a while ago when like half the parliament didn't even show up when he visited because they could take early vacation days. It's a general culture issue. I understand that the parliament is right now not very powerful within the EU and therefore not very interesting to take part in, but I would like to see a future with a trustworthy and decisive parliament that can strengthen the EU and before the parliament gets more power it needs to show that we an trust it. For now I don't feel like the parliament functions properly. There have been more cases of money-grabbing behaviour. Both by declaring too much money like Le Pen or by showing a general attitude of just going there and not caring about the work. It's unfortunately a real problem right now.

I agree. If we have to pay for our defence, then why not defend ourselves? Why would we allow the US to use NATO as its personal war game tool? We don't need the EU + US to defend against Russia. Their military is about the same size as the combined EU military in its underfunded state right now... If we get to the 2% treshold we'll already be able to defend ourselves. We don't need the US.

+Wendy Alexander The EU gives a total of 90 billion euro in foreign aid. The second largest foreign aid spender is the US at 30 billion.... We are to foreign aid what the US is to defence spending. And now we'll have to spend more, as economic migrants come here to grab their social security. Perhaps that 90 billion in foreign aid is useless to helping them, if they come anyway. Perhaps we'd be better off cutting it off altogether.

+A. Salmon Because we don't want an economic disaster. Some countries would have like 20% of their exports vaporise instantly if access to the UK is lost. It's something we have to prepare for to make it smooth.
