  9. That would be terrible, if it were remotely true. Of course, like most things Trump tells you, it's not remotely true. The $700 was the immediate short term relief that congress has authorized FEMA to hand out right after an emergency, to cover food, travel, and housing in the very short term. Much more aid is coming to help them to rebuild, but that will take additional appropriations from congress, and congressional Republicans are currently slowing those processes, so if you want Hawaii to get more aid, contact the nearest elected Republican and tell them to get their act together.

  30. I keep hearing from Republicans that the administration is "disregarding the laws," but none of them can list a single law that the administration has broken. Also, under US law, when someone is detained, they CAN then be released to await judicial process, immigration law is no different in this regard, so once they have been detained, releasing them until their immigration hearings is in no way against the law. We can't simply detain them until their hearings because the system is too backed up for that. If Republicans want them to be detained until they are deported, then they would need to pass Biden's funding requests for border judges so that we can reduce the backlogs.

  49. Well, "balancing the budget" really isn't a priority, the issue is just avoiding shutdowns and debt ceiling crises. I mean, yes, the budget tends to be better balanced under Democrats than Republicans, but it hasn't actually been balanced since Clinton was in office.
