  14. The transit in Tokyo and Hong Kong are not transit systems, they are real estate organizations providing customer delivery service. Their costs are subsidized through rents of their real estate to large shopping centers that not coincidentally are integrated into their transit entry points. To get to this system, a lot of land had to be seized and a lot of families lost their land in the 60's and 70's. Some of those fights got really nasty.
