Any rich white men who stand up to the left will be hated e.g. Trump. Of course this is not limited to rich white men. There is a sliding scale. Rich white women would rate differently. Different again if you're black.

  3. It's not an absolute. Every situation requires it's own set of solutions. A short term restriction on freedom is sometimes necessary. The philosophical absolutism around "freedoms" has taken on a religious fever in some.

  7. There is another way to understand the move away from religion.. Often, people such myself who were raised by Christian parents may subsequently enter a period of reflection and analysis of one's beliefs and its foundations and discovered it wanting. Yes, the Bible may contain great wisdom in parts but at it's core, it's a collection of myth and legend wriiten by men. So it isn't always about walking away from Jesus or God. It's a realization that these things were beliefs. Not reality. At least not in a literal Biblical sense. Of course that leaves a gaping hole that needs filling and wokeism can fill that gap for some.

  12. Paterson is wrong on the Pandemic. Australian took the right approach in preventing mass death. The pandemic effectively put us on a war like footing until the vaccines arrived. It's a special case, covid-19 is nothing like seasonal flu.

  18. Correct except this is not a "Pretend Crisis" and the mismanagement is more about not doing a strict enough lock-down early enough. If New York, Italy etc. had acted quicker (even by a week or two) we wouldn't be seeing such a high death toll. What beggars belief is the idea of opening up before the case rate falls sufficiently.

  36. I don't see the connection between polio and covid-19. They're entirely different disrases and hence require entirely different strategies. It turns out that isolating only those who test positive for covid-19 is grossly ineffective and I shouldn't have to explain why 18 months in.

  38. I fully agree with you. I've unsubscribed from numerous "conservative" commentators, news outlets and cable news feeds for that very reason. And that includes this channel and Triggernometry. They all incorrectly conflate rights and freedom with an "I should be able to do what I like whenever I like" mindset, forgetting that we're all part of communities. All rights, no responsibilities. We saw that here. A dissapointing moment in an otherwise great conversation. They just need to think a little deeper.

And a lack of critical thinking... on the left it's the woke movement with all of its baggage but the far right have been exposed by the pandemic with their anti-science agenda, antivax, anti-mask, anti-lockdown propaganda and a plethora of misinformation and conspiracy theories, lies about Bill Gates and vaccines, lies around the danger of covid-19, peddling ineffective drugs, preventing mask mandates and their total lack of compassion.
