In fact what happened, is while Zelensky was praising his 'special units' heroically bombing voting centers in Kherson and Donetsk and posting fliers vowing to kill anyone who voted in the referendums, he was just ensuring that only people who hated Kiev enough to risk their safety for it, turned out to vote. Its exactly what happened in Iraq, when we held elections and the militias tried to terrorize people out of voting. And surprise, surprise at the completely unforeseeable results.
